Takes place during the first Avengers movie. In this one shot you're a fourteen year old who has a little sister.
Also slightly inspired by the scene from Hunger Games where Catniss volunteers to protect Prim.Y/n gasped, looking up into the sky as a fleet of aliens skydived down onto the city, firing and destroying everything in sight. Many people screamed and ran inside the buildings, anything to dodge the bullets and the flames surrounding them. She had to find Wren, and fast. It hadn't been long since they had been separated so she couldn't have gotten far. Every minute that passed opened more possibilities of her sister getting hurt, causing a feeling of anxiousness and worry to build up in y/n's chest.
She could see the Avenger's fighting, fighting for their freedom as the rest of the civilians hid in fear.
"KNEEL."
Multiple screams and cries in terror were heard from behind her and within another moment, she found herself running towards them. She had a gut feeling that forced her to run towards the danger.
Arriving at the scene, she immediately took cover behind a wall. She saw many civilians being cornered by multiple forms of a man wearing a green, gold trimmed cape and a golden helmet curving into two horns. Raven black hair sticking out the back. On closer inspection, she could see that they were fakes - illusions of himself. Then she realised what it was that made him seem slightly familiar. He reminded her of the God of mischief from Norse Mythology, Loki.
One of the Avengers happened to be Thor from that same mythology, so the possibility of his brother attempting to take over Earth didn't seem entirely impossible.
Completely baffled and in disbelief of what she was seeing, she flinched slightly when who she assumed was 'Loki' spoke again, loud and clear;"You will all kneel before me!" the God snarled whilst holding out his hands to prove his point. The scepter in his hands glowed brightly, pointing at all the people trapped and kneeling in front of him. She looked over his face and pale skin, seeing a devilish grin spreading from ear to ear in triumph. He had a mysterious glimmer in his sharp emerald eyes. More screams where suddenly heard and she saw Loki pointing the charged scepter at a young child at the front of the crowd.
Y/n recognized that child, the auburn hair. That pastel shirt and bright green shoes.
Without thinking she rushed out of her hiding spot, headed straight towards the God and the little girl."Wren!" she shouted at the top of her lungs, feeling the panic rise in her chest.
Running across concrete and wooden debris from the nearby demolished buildings, she bent down and wrapped her fingers around a thick piece of wood the length of a baseball bat. As she neared the God from behind and gripped the piece of wood hard with both hands- she raised it above her head and let it come crashing down across the God's golden helmet in a shout of anger. Somehow, despite the force of the blow, he was stronger than she thought, as the wood had split in two the moment it colided with his head. It sent splinters in every direction.
Loki froze. For a moment y/n could see her little sister from behind the God. Her petrified glossy eyes stared into her e/c ones. She hadn't dared to move. And frankly, neither had y/n.The crowd watched in silence, too afraid to do anything. Loki eventually turned to glare at the human who'd attempted to harm him, only he was left surprised when he saw a mere child.
Y/n stared wild-eyed into his erie green eyes. The God only ended up snickering at the girl before him."My, my, and who might you be? A new recruit of the Avengers?" he spat, using his final sentence in a mocking manner. He took a step forward, y/n automatically sliding one foot back. She only realised how much taller he was than her, his overall menacing and intimidating aura beginning to settle into her mind.
