Nina was early. Too early that morning. She'd snuck out of the house to avoid her mum again. She knew she would have to face her sooner or later, she couldn't survive otherwise, but delaying the conversation seemed to ease her mind a little.
The sun was just barely coming up when Nina arrived at the Community Centre, the paint chipped shutters were still down and locked, no form of entrance readily available. There was a slight ajar in one of the shutters that Nina could lift and squeeze through, but her arms weren't strong enough to widen it.
She wandered around to the back entrance of the building. The previously smashed window boarded up lazily with a piece of discarded ply wood, the hinges loose enough for Nina to wobble it free from the doors structure. As she shook the wood, images of the deranged probation worker filled her mind, the snarl he wore on his face as he crashed through the very window she was now clambering through.
When she stood in the dimly lit Community Centre she sighed, looking at the cleaned out locker that once held the blood coated form of Gary. Brushing the dust off her jeans she stalked towards the lockerrooms, deciding a shower would refresh her, distract her and possibly pass some time.
Nathan peered over the top of the Mezzanine to catch a glimpse of Nina wandering through the main hall into the locker rooms. He was barely awake but scrambled to his feet, quickly hiding his makeshift bed under some chairs and throwing on some clothes. He tiptoed down the old stairs trying his hardest not to let them creak and alert Nina that he was here. All he had to do was put his clothes in his locker and sneak out the building before Nina knew he was there.
Nina already knew he was there, she'd saw his sleeping form on the Mezzanine before he'd even noticed she was there. She didn't want to wake him and question him. Nina, however, wished she had done when Nathan came nervously hurrying into the locker room. Nina had finished showering within a couple of minutes, getting used to timing herself properly, and now was stood in nothing but a tiny towel that barely reached her thighs, wet curls dripping all down her bright red face.
Nina's power kicked in before Nathan could even take in a full look at her, running and locking herself in one of the toilet stalls, leaving Nathan shocked and also a little red in the face. He picked up her clothes that lay discarded on the floor outside her locker and slowly walked towards the toilets.
"Curls? Look, I didn't see anything I promise," Nathan announced with a smug smile plastered on his face.
"Oh go away you perve!" Nina shouted angrily as she shivered in her towl.
"Hey! I'm not a pervert! How did I know you'd be stripping off in the locker rooms at 6am?" Nathan responded loudly, leaned against the edge of the toilet door.
"Well I didn't know you'd be living here either, did I?" Nina responded, the cold hitting her wet body.
Nathan passed her clothes under the door quietly. "Fancy a cuppa tea?" He asked with a smile.
Nina chuckled and sighed, picking her clothes off of the floor beneath her feet, "Two sugars."

They sat cross-legged up on the Mezzanine floor facing each other, each with a small cup of freshly brewed tea warming up their hands.
"How long have you been living here then?" Nina asked, breaking what was becoming a little awkward silence between them.
Nathan sighed, figuring there was no point in hiding the truth if Nina already knew, "A little while. My mum kicked me out. I deserved it really, but now I kinda like the place...And I dont have to pay rent."
