Day two of torture in Hotel Lipton. What will this day bring? Another irrating–probably more than two–phone call made by Michael Clifford himself. More running up the hotel to deliver towels or something else. Yes, it's another typical torture day for me.
"Morning Deena," Mimi greeted, slotting in her card, marking her arrival time official. A cup of coffee was in her other hand while a few papers filed inside colour full files where balanced on the other hand. "Ready for another day of work then?"
I shrugged, unsure of these feelings flowing in me. Mixed feelings for sure. Nothing great is going to come from it, for sure. "Morning. Not so sure about the feeling of work. I'm still not so used to this. Torture week, that's what I call it."
Mimi, who was recently taking a sip of her coffee while listening to my story, suddenly burst into laughter, almost spitting out her coffee in her mouth. She took out a white hankerchief from her pocket and quickly wiped her mouth with it. "Excuse me. I must've... accidentally spilled some."
I smiled. "Actually, thanks for brightening up my day. All because of one story and one cup of coffee."
With one incident that happened just today before work, I've kept my smile up my face for the next five hours. Then came my one hour break. My lunch break with a few minutes of relaxation.
"Fiona, can you get me a supreme deluxe, then?" I requested to Fiona, removing my dark red heels. My feet, as usual, ached again. Running up and down made my feet ache once more. I wouldn't wear heels for a whole week after this experience.
"Sure," Fiona replied. "It'll be here in probably... twenty minutes. So, try walking around to sort out your aching feet. Talk a walk in these flip flops then."
Fiona handed me a yellow bag with my favourite red flip flops inside. She went through most troubles for me. Like I said, she was like an older sister to me–even if she is just my secretary.
I grabbed the bag and removed my dark red heels. Placing my feet on the warm tiles, I felt so alive. "Thanks Fiona. You're a life-saver this week. I don't know what I'll do without you and your quick thinking on my needs."
Fiona laughed while adjusting her glasses. "Well, I propose you think about it right now. You'll never know when I might not be around to help you."
"Hey, don't say that," I pouted a little, hiding away my smiles that kept trying to show itself. "You're making me feel like my dad's going to fire you."
The feeling of having Fiona get fired and out of my life feels like getting my right arm amputated. It's like having my happiness and freedom taken away from me. It's like deleting my whole childhood and replacing it with a memory of just being kept in a box. That's how it feels like if Fiona leaves my life, forever.
"Anyway, don't go. I'll miss you too much and won't be able to think until you return," I smiled as Fiona nodded and rushed away to get my order.
"You're just like me," came a voice after I saw Fiona running off to the restaurant of the hotel. "I usually asked someone to get me something instead of me getting it myself. Rehersals are just too tough that I can't get it myself."
Turning around, I found myself standing face-to-face with Michael Clifford. Of course, another day with him here is like a day of torture. He'll be staying here for a month! Well, luckily, my working days end in five days and I won't be able to see his smug little face afterwards. Of course, I'm being detained in the hotel. Though, I can find ways to avoid him.
"Aren't you going to say 'hi' to me?" he asked, looking rather down that I wasn't going to greet him anytime soon. "It's the first way to capture my heart. A lovely smile with a little 'hi' tagging along. That's what will take at least a little piece away."
"Let me ask you this again," I said, cooling down my temper before I blow up because he was so irratating. I took in a few deep breathes before continuing, "Why do you want me to fall in love with you?"
It still didn't make any sense to me why he's trying so hard just to make me fall in love with him. I'm not interested and I've been repeating that for, like, every time I see him. Every second he's here, my hatred for him grows stronger.
A grin made its way up Michael's smug little face. I hate it so much. "Well," he began, taking a step closer to me. I feel as if pervy Michael or Mike has just made a comeback into my mind. "Every girl can't resist me."
"Then go find other girls," I suggested, rolling my eyes as he tries to make a point on why I have to fall in love with him. It was the lamest reason, ever. "Since I won't be falling in love with you, you can just drop the act and try it on another girl, Michael."
He got pissed off, by the looks of it. But the next thing that happened was almost unexpected. He leaned closer to cover my mouth shut with his palm, again but this time, I accidentally slipped on a puddle of water while stepping back, causing myself to fall but Michael caught me by holding my hip. Our faces was so close that I could smell his minty breathe. My heart kept pounding like there's someone with a hammer inside there.
He slowly helped me stand up right and let go of my hip. He cleared his throat, trying to lessen the awkward moment. "S-sorry. Uh, I think I'll go to my room now. Have a nice day, Deena."
With that, he rushed out of the pool area and ran inside the lobby. I couldn't see where he disappeared to but I persume he would be in the elevator by now.
Why is my heart beating so much right now? Why won't it stop beating? What's happening to me? But, I hope nobody saw that incident. Mainly the staff because they'll probably tell my dad and then, I'll be dead for sure!
