Michael and I walked down the streets of Australia. I was about to call a cab but Michael proposed we walked instead. He said he wanted to have some exercise and told me that I needed one too. Ugh... He's really daring to say things like that, isn't he?
The weird thing is that I couldn't stop smiling or feeling nervous when I'm around him. I hope he doesn't find out that I have this tiny little crush on him. I know that he will say, "I told you my charms worked on you. No girl can resist me, Michael Clifford."
How did I fall in love with him? Why did I fall in love with him? This all started because of that particular scene by the pool! It all started there. Who knows where it'll end? Either love is on the road somewhere or just my imagination taking over.
I realized I shouldn't have let my guard down. While I was drowning and diving in my thoughts, Michael grabbed my hand without any warning whatsoever. It really threw me off my guard but the next thing he said was more shocking, "Can I hold your hand 'til we reach Chadstone?"
"Are you serious? Why are you doing this right now, Michael?" I asked, trying to shake his hand off. Honestly, I wanted to say yes to his offer but doing so, I will just let him win. My wish for now is to not let him know I actually like him until the end of the month, when he leaves for good.
"Just once, Deena," he begged. His hold got stronger and I had no choice but to admit defeat. Okay, I really liked him holding my hand right now. I felt like there were fireworks in my stomach. "Thank you, Deena. For once, I actually feel like I have someone..."
"Michael, did you, by any chance, drink something that contained alcohol again?" I asked, already jumping into conclusions. Hey, it could be possible.
"No," he answered honestly. "I just felt like holding your hand right now. I'm not so sure why but I had this urge to hold your hand and–"
"Whatever," I muttered as we continued our journey to Chadstone.
For the first time in my life, I bought matching shoes. It was weird to be matching things with Michael. Even I haven't done these things in my teen years or when I dated with someone before. I'm not even dating Michael but we just recently bought matching red sneakers together. Someone please tell me whether it's weird or not.
I kept staring and admiring my newly bought shoes–thanks to Michael. He must've noticed if he were to ask me, "Do you really like those shoes I bought for you?"
Without me realizing, I answered, "Yeah. I do. A lot. It's the first time someone ever match shoes with me. Thanks."
"So, what you're saying is that you'll love all the matching things I'll buy for you when we're a couple?" Michael teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
I scoffed, "What are you talking about right now? I'm just saying that these shoes are awesome! I didn't say we were a couple."
"Also, you're not disagreeing that we'll be a couple in the future," Michael never failed to entertain me with meaningless points that he was trying to prove to me. "Or the fact of us being a couple. You're not saying 'no' to that."
I rolled my eyes and took a spoonful of frozen yogurt that Michael bought for us. "Whatever you're trying to do, it's not going to work on me. I've told you, I'm not a fan nor will I ever be, okay? You don't have to waste time on me."
"I know you aren't but somehow, you're different," Michael leaned closer and put his head on his hand, grinning at me. "I won't give up, though. Not until I stole your heart."
"Uh, seriously?" I asked, looking away and rolling my eyes. "Man, that's all creepy and pervy. Don't say things like that to me, Michael."
"Huh, when you say my name here it's as if no one listens and girls don't come screaming," he pointed out, looking around the shop. There weren't many customers, honestly. Slow business, I must say. "Must've been a lucky choice for me, then."
"Oh, please," I scoffed and twirled the plastic spoon inside of the cup. "Do you really want girls to come screaming at you? Should I just yell out your name then?"
"No, no, no!" he constructively waved his hands around when I stood up from my seat. He cleared his throat and added, "No, pleae. Just, sit down and we'll just go around like normal people."
"Sure, sure," I nodded my head several times, making it look as if I was listening to music that was actually inside my head. In reality, I was just enjoying the time I'm spending with Michael. I don't show it but I am.
After the quick refill with that frozen yogurt, Michael and I began roaming around the mall and checking out some stores. We seemed as if we were a really couple or something.
"Enjoying yourself right now?" Michael asked as he nudged me lightly with his shoulder. We walked to the escalator that lead to the rooftop. Michael said we would be able to see the beauty of Australia at night.
"Yeah and it's not even 8 yet," I admitted. Slowly, we took a step on it and ascended up to the rooftop.
Once we reached the door of the rooftop, which was an iron-like door with the blinking sign on top that read, 'EXIT'. Michael pushed the door open and both of us entered to the outside of the tall building. Michael told me it's a rooftop but I never expected it to be a rooftop greenhouse!
"Oh. My. Gosh!" I squealed and ran to the bench swing. It's been a while since I've been in one. It's nice to have a overlook of the city while the atmosphere around you was just to die for. "It seems like you know Australia more than me, Michael."
He chuckled and began his short walk towards where I was swinging at. "I used to come up here with my cousin when we shop here with my mom and aunt. We find shopping boring but ever since we discovered this place, we've always been eager of coming to Chadstone."
He took a seat next to me and took a look at the city lights of the night. I wanted to say something, so, I said, "I guess work as a celebrity took you far away from this place."
"So, now you believe I'm a celebrity?" asked Michael, raising up an eyebrow as he smirked.
I rolled my eyes and quickly added, "This place is nice, by the way. Thanks for showing it to me. Now, I can come here after work after the busy day that somebody gave me."
"Sorry, okay?" he asked, raising up both his hands. "I'm bored up there. No one to talk to, nothing to do. I can't even play with my phone because I'm afraid that Cindy installed a GPS thing in it."
"You're still not ready to go back?" I asked.
He slowly shook his head as his expression darkened. "No, I believe not. I told you, I'll be here for a month whether you like it or not. I... don't believe I have a choice for this, Deena."
I felt sorry for him right now. It's as if he lost everything because of one scene. "I... understand."
"Deena," Michael called, his diamond eyes staring into my plain ones. "Do you think it's possible?"
I, who was obviously confused on his action and words, asked, "Huh?"
He shifted his body closer to me. "Do I... do I like you?"
