in which he forgets everything.

"am i supposed to remember you?"
"am i supposed to remember you."
his words practically echoed throughout the white room and i couldn't feel anything, couldn't hear anything else but the heart monitor and the resonance of his voice.
he doesn't remember me.
"it's fine," i think i said before i walked out. when the door closed behind me, everything hit me: it was my fault. if we didn't get into that stupid argument, he wouldn't have had to storm out. he wouldn't have had to walk in the rain to escape from our problems. he wouldn't have to go through this.
i felt my back against the door. as my legs began to give out, a pair of warm arms surrounded me and held me up. i don't know how long i just stood their and cried, but the entire time they stood there silently and held me as i bawled into their shoulder.

kun stood there and held his friend as life continued around them. his heart broke every second he felt his shoulder wet from the endless amount of tears of one of the few dearest to him. when he woke up that morning he never would've imagined to get the phone call that would shatter his world forever.
"kun, come to the hospital please. i need you here."
"what happened?" he asked into the phone, half awake as it was barely morning.
"it's lucas," jungwoo said, his voice breaking when he said his lover's name. "he got mugged."
after finding out the location, kun hopped into his car and sped all the way to the hospital on the other side of the city he was in. he practically ran all the lights on the way there.
when he finally met jungwoo in front of a hospital room, the male explained everything. how they got into an argument about lucas's questionable occupation and how he had stormed off into the rainstorm the night before. a pit grew inside kun's stomach as jungwoo continued to tell him about how he had to donate his blood because lucas got shanked. just as jungwoo finished filling him in, a doctor came up to the two of them and introduced them as lucas's surgeon.
"he's fairing well," the doctor said. "the blood transfusion was a success, but i cannot day the same for everything else."
kun's heart dropped to his feet. "what do you mean doctor?"
the elder male sighed and flipped open his board. "mr. wong was mugged, as you probably know. in the process of the theft, he was stabbed multiple times and had major head injuries. my guess is because they were trying to knock him out for good after stabbing him."
tears began falling out of jungwoo's eyes and he continuously muttered 'oh my god'. kun wrapped an arm around the male before his legs gave out and turned back to the doctor.
"what do the injuries mean doctor?" kun asked, trying to keep the tears in his own eyes from falling.
"i cannot know for sure," the man said, pity evidently reflecting off of his eyes from the dull hospital lights.
"i am sorry doctor, but i can't simply take a 'i'm not sure' right now!" kun snapped.
the doctor sighed once more. "amnesia is a high possibility. the ability to walk, eat, and other everyday things might be effected as well. it depends on how bad the damage is. we'll know more when he wakes up."
he tucked his board under his arm. "i'm so sorry. i'll be back in a few minutes to check his vitals and everything else, so please feel free to ask questions."
everything after was a blur for kun. lucas woke up and the doctor advised one visitor at a time. he let jungwoo in first, but not even a few minutes later, the male came out sobbing again.
he couldn't make out exactly what jungwoo was saying, but he picked up 'he doesn't remember me' and 'it's all my fault'.
