in which jisung's afraid of small things and chenle's there to comfort him.

"ji, you need to calm down. the clown can't hurt you, it's not real." chenle comforted the taller male curled up beside him.
the younger was the one who suggested a scary movie for their weekly movie night. chenle knew jisung couldn't take such things and had requested something more tame, but jisung being the stubborn kid he was, insisted until chenle gave in.
so now, in the dead of night, chenle and jisung sat next to each other on the couch whilst watching a horror movie. a blanket was draped around the two boys so they wouldn't freeze to death, and jisung took that opportunity to snuggle in closer to the elder male.
chenle was fine with horror movies, it was just jisung that he was worried about. the poor boy was afraid of most things, and though his scared state was kind cute, chenle found it within himself to comfort the boy when needed.
"ji? if you don't want to watch it we can just watch something else. we don't have to watch this movie." chenle says, attention directed to the large boy curled up into his side.
"n-no, i wanna w-watch it." well, his stuttering and cowering behind chenle told them otherwise.
jisung was afraid, but he didn't want to ruin the movie night because he was being a big baby. besides, he wants to show chenle that he could be brave. that movies like these didn't bother him, but so far, that wasn't going so well.
truth be told, he felt quite embarrassed being afraid of so many thing and having to cower behind his best friend when met with a fear of his. jisung didn't want chenle to think he was a helpless pup, afraid of the world.
"are you sure? because if you aren't enjoying it, i'm not enjoying it." the elder turned to his side to fully face his best friend, giving him concerned eyes.
"i swear—i-i'm not scared." the pure vulnerability in the younger's eyes caused chenle to feel the need to hold the latter in his arms and never let go.
"jisung-ah. it's alright to be scared. to be honest, i think it's brave of you to even show that you're scared. a lot of people can't do that, and i think that's pretty awesome of you." chenle took ahold of one of jisung's hands, rubbing comforting circles into the younger's skin with his thumb.
"but isn't it weird? i'm scared so easily, how do you even deal with me. don't you find me...i don't know, embarrassing?"
"not at all. i just want you to know that i'll always be here for you. to hold you when you're down or afraid, and for you to have a companion to talk to. i'm not only your best friend, but i'm going as far as saying that you're my soulmate." a bashful smile was painted on the elder's lips, silently thinking back to what he just said.
soulmates? that sounded really nice in both boys' minds.
"you really don't mind it? like for reals?" jisung asked, still unsure.
chenle replies with a simple shaking of his head 'no', "just jump into my arms whenever you need comfort ji. i'm here for you."
within a couple of seconds, jisung had already pounced onto the shorter male, wrapping his arms around his best friend's figure.
a small wheeze was heard from chenle, when he felt himself falling back with a heavy weight on his front side. he quickly reciprocated the hug, wrapping his arms around the other's waist.
they were like that for a while before he heard jisung let out a small, "thank you, lele."
"no need, ji. you being here is already enough for me."
for the rest of their movie night, the two boys fell asleep in each other's arms, a content grin on both of their lips.
