Tom looked on in intrigue and feigned distaste as Professor Dippet welcomed a new sixth year Hufflepuff to Hogwarts; his deadpan gaze examining the slightly short girl as she made her way towards her table, a bashful, yet graceful, smile making it's way onto her soft, delicate lips as her fellow housemates greeted her with open arms.
"Tch. Just what we needed! Another goody two shoes Hufflepuff." A quiet groan sounded beside him, causing the boy to slightly glance towards the sound.
"If I were you, I'd waste my breath on something useful, Lestrange." Tom's monotonous voice declared, a bored look crossing the boy's features as he once again turned his gaze towards the fair girl— slowly scanning her captivating appearance.
He watched as the girl laughed wholeheartedly; a laugh that to most was melodic and beautiful but to Tom was nothing but irritating white noise.
"You've got to admit, Lestrange, she is quite cute." Avery, another one of Tom's close friends, added— a small, almost mischievous, glint in his eyes as he stared at the ruby-lipped girl.
"Cute? What is she? A pet?" Lestrange retorted, a loud scoff leaving his thin lips as he turned his attention towards, what seemed to be, everyone's new infatuation; [Y/N].
"I'd say she's more like a good meal. Wouldn't you agree, Riddle?" He continued, a small smirk on his pale features as he fixed his gaze onto the raven-haired boy, eagerly awaiting his response.
Said boy simply glanced his way once more, a somewhat disinterested and deploring look making it's way onto his, otherwise, elegant and clean-cut features.
"I don't care for feeble Hufflepuffs and, frankly, neither should you." Tom voiced, clear indifference mixed in with his usual uniform tone.
Both boys frowned, not liking the answer they'd received, but soon let it go as they knew better than to test the dark-haired boy.
"I still think she's cute." Avery mumbled, standing up slightly to reach for more seconds.
Their dinner continued in silence, both Lestrange and Avery spending the better half of their time stealing glances at the timid girl— earning themselves more than a few unimpressed stares from Hogwarts' beloved "heartless" heart-throb; Tom Marvolo Riddle.
