Wikipedia
We all know what Wikipedia is, when we search something on Google, Wikipedia is usually one of the first results. Wikipedia basically knows everything about everyone it’s kind of like a modern day ‘dictionary’.
Too bad, it’s confusing as eff.
Search the simplest concept and Wikipedia turns it into this big mumble-jumble. And what’s with all the unnecessary information?
For Example:
“Google, What is School?”
A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory] In these systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country but generally include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution where higher education is taught, is commonly called a university college or university.
Like institution? This isn’t an asylum for the clinically insane!
So what do you do about you not possessing satisfactory knowledge to comprehend what Wikipedia is stating?
Simple, the answer is literally simple.
So you take the web address and change the ‘en’ to ‘simple’
For Example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School becomes http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/School
So SIMPLE Wikipedia, what is School?
A school is a place where people go to learn.
Wow, mind blown.
Though on the topic of the definition of School, I prefer the urban dictionary’s definition.
‘A place were you spend first 18 years of life taking it up the ass.’
However I do not recommend using Urban Dictionary for educational purposes.
Gum
Apparently chewing gum helps you study and to make sure this is true I read a few articles and I gotta say things are looking bright.
Especially for people that attend schools where the concept of chewing gum in class is frowned upon. People like me.
Apparently studies suggest that chewing gum helps improve test scores as the chewing motion gets blood flowing through the ol’ noggin.
So here’s the trick.
Buy a particular flavor of gum that you wouldn’t normally chew and chew it whilst studying. Then chew it whilst taking your ‘big’ test.
Do this enough times and your brain will release chemicals that associate certain things with a certain taste.
What the hell does that mean?
If you chew gum (a flavor that you don’t usually chew) whilst studying and then in a test, the taste should help jog your memory about what you’ve studied.
TMI: I personally chew cinnamon gum while studying and during tests because it has such a distinct taste.
Study method: READ AND LISTEN
When I need to memorize something I like to listen and read it so I’ll just record it on my phone and then read it over and over again.
Because you are reading and listening you absorb TWICE the amount of information.
Chapter Reviews
So you’ve been an ignorant prick and haven’t listened for the whole month you have been learning about something whilst everyone else has been marking special pages to read in their textbooks.
Well you fruit-loop-dingus, there is hope for you.
Just revise the chapter reviews as it basically has all the vital information needed and if you don’t know how to do it.
Well, Google was invented for a reason.
Thanks for all these Random and somewhat helpful tips but when do I study?
Right before Bed.
A study (yes another study) was conducted where participants were asked to memorize word pairs. One group learnt the words at 9am and one learnt it at 9pm (the 9pm group went straight to bed after learning).
The results: Sleep didn’t have an impact when participants were asked to recall the related words (Teachers-School), however when asked to recall the unrelated words (School-Kittens) the 9pm group did significantly better.
