Alex

Three weeks.

I've been here three weeks, all my hope of the boys finding me is gone. I mean this is what I wanted didn't I? I wanted them to forget about me and go live their lives. Now it seems like they actually may have listened to me for once.

Everyday here is the same. I wake up to Brad or John screaming at me, I get dressed quickly and then we make the rounds. John takes me around and makes me check everything in the storage containers. It'd I do it wrong I don't get to go back "home" I get to go to the hangar. Where he electrocuted me until I can barely move.

He leaves me for a few days to heal and get back on my feet and than it starts all over again. There's a woman who always comes in and checks on me, she has to make sure I eat and drink plenty of water. It's like having a nurse. But I've completely given up on trying to fight him anymore. All I know is this is my life now, the pain, the screaming. It's my everyday routine. He won't hurt the ones I love. Even if they have forgotten about me.

"Alexandra! You lazy girl! Get down here!" John shouts from downstairs. The nurse scuffles into my room and helps me to get dressed, carefully avoiding the burns and scars on my torso. When I get downstairs John is standing there with Brad and a small boy. I look at them in confusion. "Alexandra, this is Jake. He's your brother, I'd like you to walk with him and Brad down to the docks, check up on things. I'll see you all at lunch!" John quickly exits the room and I just look at Brad like he's crazy.

"a brother?" I ask not believing a word of it. "How old are you kid?" I ask looking at the smiling boy in front of me. He beams " I'm 16 now" sixteen? That would mean the kids only three years younger than me. "Where's your parents?" His face drops and Brad steps in " your mother died giving birth to him, that's why you never knew about him, he was raised here" It's true my mother died when I was at a very young age. But not from giving birth. John told me she was a drunk, that she died in an accident.

After that he got married again to Hailey, she was so kind to me. But then she was gone too. I shake my head "why is he only telling me this now?" I ask. What would John never tell me I had a brother? Not even when he broke into our house? "He knew you wouldn't believe him unless you saw him with your own eyes"

I nod slowly and watch as Jake trots in front of us a ways. He seems like such a good kid, like he wasn't raised how I was. I mean he probably wasn't but I wonder what made John change his mind about how to raise a child. It's lovely though, the thought of having a brother and knowing he was raised in a good state. It would kill me if he ever got hurt and I barely know him.

Brad starts to slow down and I look at him cautiously, what is he going to do? He smiles at me and nods as Jake "you two have fun, I've got some stuff I need to do" he doesn't even give me time to respond before he's heading off in the opposite direction. I then turn back to Jake and smile "hey kid! Come sit with me" I wave.him over and we plop down on the grass.

He starts to pull at the grass nervously and I give him a questioning look. "Jake, this is new for the both of us. I want to get to know my little brother, can you tell me anything about yourself?" He continues to pick at the grass before looking up at me with a smile. "I'm going to tell you something, but you've got to act like we're just having a normal conversation. They're watching us." I give him a confused look at his strange request but nod in agreement .

I scoot closer to him and pick at the grass by his feet, "This man is looking for you, well him and a few others." I froze at the quiet words that left his mouth, but then remembering to act normal I nodded and kept playing with the grass. "About a week ago Brad sent me to town to get some things, when we saw the man Brad told me to keep an eye on him and he'd be right back" I listened as carefully as I could to every word in his story.

They hadn't forgotten about me? "He caught me, he took me to a small motel and I met his friends. They started asking all these questions about you, but then I didn't know you so I couldn't help much" didn't the boys know that kidnapping children is illegal? "He said his name was Harry, he asked me to tell him everything I did know and asked me where I came from. Somehow he knew we were siblings before we did." Harry always was a puzzling genius.

I looked out across the lawn and saw Brad heading back this way "Jake, quick, is there anything else that my friends told you?" I asked quickly. Brad was almost halfway to us. Jake thought for a moment before nodding "oh yes! They all told me to tell you that they loved you very much, and don't ever give up because they're coming for you" A smile slowly crept into my face. They really didn't forget about me, the smile was gone as soon as it appeared though. Not only were they coming for me, but in doing so, they were risking their own lives.

"Hey bud, how's it going with Alex?" Brad says sitting down on the other side of Jake. " it's going really well, I like having a sister" Brad kinda smiles but looks a little jealous. I can tell that they're close just by the way Brad is around him, you can tell he's protective of Jake.

"Well, we better be heading back now. Your dad wants to have an early lunch so that we can go out tonight." Brad says getting up from the ground. " get Brad, we never went and checked the storage containers " Jake said following him. My eyes widened in fear, I had completely forgot about that. I don't want to go back to the hangar.

Brad just smiled and shrugged it off though "it's okay Jake, I had someone else do it so you could have more time with your sister." Jake nodded and skipped along while a felt major relief full my body. There's still a part of me though that is scared, I don't know if I could take the hangar today. But I would, I'd do it everyday in a heartbeat just to protect those boys. Now to protect my little brother as well.
