Rescued

Chapter 17

Jasen

Shortly after I called the police they arrived at the hospital to ask us a few questions about what happened. I told them the story from my side. I told them all about Alex's mom, what she asked me to do, I told them about John and what he's been doing over the years. I told them about the abusive years Alex was living with her father. I told themabout John kidnapping and hurting the boys and Alex. I told them everything.

They questioned everyone individually just to make sure they got everything and then together to go over some things. One thing the officer asked me was where John was now. "Well I locked him in a closet in his own home when I rescued these kids" I told him. I get that they are adults but to me their kids. I mean I'm almost 40! They are all still in their early twenties!

After the officer asked me some more questions about what John had been doing and where his house was he was gone. I really hope they catch him, he deserves to go behind bars. From what Liam yells me he was already there once when he ransacked their home looking for Alex. I guess Brad helped him back then, I'm glad the kid turned his head around.

Harry was still curled up in a ball in his hospital bed. He hasn't moved an inch since the thing with Louis earlier. He barely spoke when the officer was asking him questions. Liam was watching the news in the room and it was crazy, stuff was everywhere about how the boys had suddenly disappeared off the face of the Earth and now recently reappeared just to be in the hospital. People were going crazy over Louis being in a coma, Harry being shot, and Niall almost drowning in a canal.

I kinda wonder how any of this got out but I guess no one is really safe anymore. But we have officers around the floor that we're on, just to keep an extra eye on things. Make sure none of the boy's crazy fans get in here or any of John's minions.

Niall is doing better though. They brought him in and had to get all the water out of his lungs and now he's just resting and getting his temperature back up. They gave him plenty of food which he refused to eat at first but Niall can't resist food so he scarfed it all after an hour of saying he wasn't hungry.

Alex has barely left Lou's side and is continually talking to him quietly. I can tell Harry is listening sometimes, everyone is dealing with this in their own way. Alex is talking to someone who won't talk back, Niall is eating non stop, Harry is curled into a fetal position and covering his ears. Zayn is listening to music and Liam went to find a gym. I'm not doing anything but sitting here.

I honestly don't know what to do, I mean Alex is my cousin, she's the only family I have left besides Jake. He has sat by her the entire time she's been with Louis. He's a good little brother. I walk into the room and go over to Alex. "Can I talk to you outside for a quick second?" I ask. Jake looks a little worried but she nods and quietly gets up and follows me out.

She gives me a concerned looks as I sigh "I think it's best if I head out, I've gotta get back home. Got some things that require my attention" I say giving her a small smile. Alex just nods "yeah I agree, thank you so much. We wouldn't have been able to do it without you Jasen" she pulls me in for a hug and I just hug her tightly. "Is there a way I can get ahold of you? I mean your family I don't want you to just disappear off the face of the Earth after today" I nod quickly and scribble down my number on her hand. She does the same to me.

"I'll see you around Alex, take care. Call me if you need ANYTHING. ANYTHING at all okay?" I say giving her a smile. She nods and turns to go back into the room. She'll be okay, I know those boys will take good care of her.

After Jasen left I wemt back to sit with Louis but Jake was standing next to his bed and was really close to him. "Jake? Everything okay?" I ask. He looks at me with surprise. "Come look at this!" He says pulling me closer, he gets really close to Louis'face and whispers in his ear.

I just look at Jake and wait for something to happen but it doesn't "Jake what're you..." A low grumble makes me shut up real quick "Allleeexx" a barely audible sound leaves Louis' lips and my heart skips a beat. I get closer to him and hold his hand "yeah, it's me Lou. I'm right here. Please come back to me" I plead. I look at Jake "how'd you do that? Show me!" I say quickly.

He smiles "well I played some of his music on my phone and I noticed he was making noise. When I listened closer I noticed he was actually singing. He was singing his songs. So I tried getting really close to him and saying certain things to see if he'd respond. He didn't respond to anything except 'You've gotta wake up Lou, she's waiting for you'  and he would just mumble your name in response"

I smile and look at the sick boy in front of me. "I am waiting for you Lou, please come back to me. We need you." I whisper in his ear. I jump as his heart monitor beeps a little faster and then slows back down again. Did I do that? I look down at Louis again and his finger starts to twitch. "That's it! Come on Louis wake up" I encourage him and put a hand on his face "please come back" I kiss him gently and to my surprise a few seconds later he kisses back. I pull away and his eyes flutter open.

Jake just stares in shock at what just happened "this is like a seriously messed up fairytale!" He yells before running out of the room. I smile and so does Louis "I'm so glad your awake, you don't know how hard it's been out here" I say kissing him again. "I can only imagine. Oh! How's Harry? Is he okay?!" He sits up and looks alarmed. I smile and pull back the curtain.

Then I remembered he wasn't doing okay, "he's okay physically, but after they had to put that breathing tube in your mouth......he shut down. He couldn't go anywhere so he had to watch" I explain. Which hold on a freaking second. When did they take his breathing tube out?! I don't even remember them taking it out!

Louis tries to get up and I grab his shoulder "what're you doing?" I ask quickly. He just smiles "I need to hug my best friend" he carefully gets out of the bed and holds onto me for support. We make our way over to Harry's bed and I tap on his shoulder "Harry wake up" I shake him gently. "Alex please just go away" his voice in hoarse and deep.

"Is that anyway to treat your best friend after he wakes up from a coma?" Louis asks incredulously. I laugh at his remark and Harry immediately turns around at the sound of Louis' voice. He jumps out of his bed and hugs Louis tightly "I thought you were a goner mate" Harry sniffled and I smiled sadly.

This really was a messed up fairytale....
