Rescued

Chapter 16

Alex

As I sit here with Jake I can feel any hope I had of finally going home washing away and sinking into the ground. I hold Lou's hand as tight as I can and just sob on his bedside. After a moment Jake leaves and joins the others on the other side of the curtain.

I can hear them all talking quietly as I just think of what could possibly happen to the beautiful boy laying in front of me. Somewhere in a deep sleep while his body tries to fix everything John tore apart. I was about to go ask how Harry was doing when a very rapid, very LOUD beeping started to come from the machine next to Louis.

His whole body was convulsing and shaking like I've never seen. Several doctor's and nurse's ran into the room "what's happening?!" I shout the doctors get past me and one of them shouts "he's seizing!" I try to get close to him and hold onto him but one of the nurses try to push me away.

When I try to get past her she starts yelling at someone "get this girl out of here!" I'm about to yell at her but I'm suddenly lifted into the air and thrown over someone's shoulder "no! Put me down!" I scream pounding their back as hard as I can. "LOUIS!!"

Niall

I don't think I've ever seen Alex act like this. She was kicking and screaming at Liam and the doctors as Liam carried her out of the room. It made my stomach churn at the sound of her screaming like that. We all left the room and left Harry there to awkwardly sit in the bed and try to see what was going on with Louis. Liam carried Alex away down the hall and Jasen followed behind him.

Zayn and I just watched through the small window at everything unraveling in front of us. Why? What can't we just have one good day without anything going wrong? We've been fighting this battle for so long and frankly I'm starting to get real tired of it!

In this moment I could feel every single little scary on my body burn and itch with anticipation. I quickly clench my fists by my sides and try to take deep breaths, I won't give into it. I won't!

The more I tried to fight it the worse it seemed to get, my breath became more and more jagged and uneven. Zayn noticed real quick after that, he grabbed my shoulders and took my to the closest chair. As soon as I was in the chair he knelt down in front of me and put his hands on my knees "you've gotta breath mate, come on, in and out" he tries to speak calmly but I can hear the worry in his words.

This only seems to make it worse and I quickly get up and knock him to the ground before taking off down the hallway. I don't know where I'm going, everything is all kinda passing by in a blur. Zayn chases after me as I continue to run, I eventually make it outside where I see Liam, Alex and Jasen leaning against the building.

Liam gives me a concerned look and I don't think twice before continuing to run, I'm sorry. I really am.

Zayn

I loose Niall after a minute but continue to look for him, I soon find my way outside. Liam gives me a concerned look "have you seen Niall?" I asked panicked. He nods "he just ran that way, Zayn what's going on?" He turns to Jasen and mumbles something quietly before running over to me.

"He's having a panic attack, I don't know what he'll do. We need to find him now!" I say quite loudly I take off in the direction Liam said he went and I could see him about 30 ft in front of me. He was still running really fast. Liam runs with me as we try to reach the fleeting boy in front of us.

"Niall!" I scream as we start to get a bit closer "Niall STOP!!" Liam shouts. He continues to run and ignores our cries, that's when we suddenly disappears. One second he's there and the next he's gone, the cause me to run faster and when we go a little ways I notice the canal. He must've stepped wrong and fallen in, my heart races as I look up and down the canal "Niall!!!" I start shouting as I continue to look for him.

"Look! Over there!" Liam yells pointing downstream. We could barely see Niall's arm coming up out of the water as his sleeve hangs on for dear life to a broken branch hanging down into the water. The rest of his body is completely submerged. I don't waste a second before jumping into the cold, deep water that pulls me quickly towards him. Liam follows shortly afterwards.

I have to try and paddle as hard as I can to get the the other side so I can grab him. As soon as I get to him I grab onto the branch and try to pull at least his head above the water. He's not breathing.....

Liam gets to us and we struggle to get out of the water, we drag Niall up as far away as we can get him and I start to do CPR as Liam calls an ambulance. He's still not breathing! "Come on Niall! Breathe!!" I shout. I could already hear the sirens making there way here. I can feel myself start to get tired but I can't give up, not yet.

When the ambulance pulls up three people get out and one of them gets me out of the way and starts to do CPR in my place. One of them checks for a pulse and his face doesn't look like he found one. Right before it looked like the medic was going to give up Niall started to spit up water and sat up really quickly.

I breathed in relief and the guys from the ambulance got him in it, we climbed in as well and went back to the hospital. Great, now three of our friends are in the hospital. When we finally get to the hospital Jasen and Alex aren't outside anymore, Liam gives me a confused look and we quickly hop out as soon as we get the chance. Our clothes are still sopping wet as we run through the doors of the hospital.

We make out way back to Lou's and Harry's room, Liam sighs in relief when he sees Alex and Jasen standing outside of it. "any news?" He asks hopeful. Alex looks at the ground and Jasen sighs "they've had to put a breathing tube in Louis. His lungs collapsed" they what?!

I push past them and go into the small room, Harry is curled up and has a tear stained face. I look over at Louis and sure enough there's a breathing tube and more wires attached everywhere. As I stand there staring in disbelief Jasen comes up behind me and puts a hand on my shoulder. "Liam? I called the police, John has to pay for what he's down" I nod and slowly make my way over to Louis' bed.

"I'm so sorry mate. This should've never happened to you" I hold onto his hand and look over at the annoying machines that he's attached to. Why couldn't they just fix him and let us go home?

"Don't worry, we'll be out of here soon. Just as soon as your better we'll go back home"
