Chapter Two
Zip lines & campfiresI WAKE UP TO THE SOUND OF KIDS yelling from outside, I sit up still feeling sore but it's nothing I can't handle. I see my clothes folded nicely on the bed next to me. I remove the warm covers from my body as I grab my clothes and start to get changed.
I see a pair of white sneakers placed near the door and put them on, not knowing if they were meant for me or not, I didn't care I needed shoes.
I walk outside feeling the warm gentle breeze brush against my fragile body almost too careful enough not to break me.
I liked nature, I liked the way trees blew from the wind, the colour of their leaves in the fall and their branches in the winter.
I liked the big blue sky before it turns black and filled with stars because that was always when it was peaceful and my dad would leave for work.
I liked the smell of the freshly cut grass when the neighbours would mow their lawns and the kids would play outside, laughing and skateboarding, playing catch or playing basketball, it was all so perfect to me. Like a movie.
Most of all I liked the moon because she would always listen to what I had to say
But I could only see these things through my window.
I notice kids throwing a ball around and see a long line of kids waiting to go on the zip line
Everything they had here was just like Lena said. I missed Lena sometimes but I know she doesn't feel the same.
I make my way towards the end of the line, waiting for my turn
"You're the girl who passed out" a high pitched voice came from behind me making me turn around, noticing a girl around my age with green eyes and blonde hair
"I guess" I respond, annoyed as to why she had to point that out but she giggled and walked away with a group of people following behind her
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as to what that was all about but continued waiting in line.
It was almost my turn when I see a red-haired kid come down from the steps on the verge of tears
The scary blonde hair dude released from kissing a girl dressed as if she was going to go to a strip club and helped the kid remove his harness "So, you're this summer's chickenshit, huh?" He told the kid, but the redhead just ran away and to be honest I felt kinda bad for him because everyone was whispering but I guess now he gets to know how it feels
It was now my turn as I make my way towards the scary guy and his girl as he connects me to the rope and I start to climb up.
I take short breaths, climbing higher and feeling the air flow my long hair away from my face. Once I got to the top I see a boy dressed all fancy with a chain around his neck to add to the effect.
"Hey, girl, you be looking fine" he smirks, checking me out. I roll my eyes, pushing him out of the way and stood on the edge of the wooden stand, Logan from before attaching me to the zip line so I don't fall. I was ready to jump off before the dark-skinned boy stopped me by saying "Are you google because you've got everything I'm searching for"
"Are you done?" I asked him, annoyed, taking him by surprise because he had that expression plastered on his face, I was so close to laughing, what has no girl ever said that to him before.
I turned away from him and faced the zip line as I jumped down, gliding through the air like a flying squirrel, forgetting about the pain and everything I've been through.
This was really everything I ever dreamed of.

This day went by fast as it was already nighttime. Everyone was around firepits either roasting marshmallows or telling stories.
Seeing all these kids here remind me of the childhood I've missed.
I was minding my own business when the annoying kid from before approached me
"I don't think I had the chance to introduce myself properly," he says raising out his hand probably motioning for me to take it but I don't
To be honest I don't really like him
He clears his throat "Well, um, I'm Dariush" he said as I looked at him
"Mia," I told him my name
"Beautiful name, for a beautiful girl" I roll my eyes, really tired of his comments but deep down I guess I kind of liked the attention
"Well hope to see you around, cutie" he winked before walking away, I sigh going to sit with the other kids near the fire pit.
Maybe my life can start to fall back in place and I can move on from the monster I had in my life that goes by my father.
Or maybe I can finally find happiness... and love, who knows. I read about love, about finding that one person who lights up your world, makes everything feel better and can bring you up when you low but I guess that only happens in books.
