Chapter Four
Abandoned with who now
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?" I ASKED confused as to what is happening in the sky as they all look at me with troubled looks. Our phones soon buzzing in our pockets, obviously, I didn't have mine since I had legit nothing "what does it say?" Gabriel asks not having one either
"It's the emergency broadcast system 'All civilians are to evacuate metropolitan areas immediately. Under no circumstances approach any unknown aircraft'" Dariush gasps "It's the next 7-11" he exclaims turning around to face the edge of the cliff
"Alright, calm down, they just got the text now, how far could they have gone," I said, calmly
"how are you so calm" Dariush freaks out at me
"She's right, we gotta get back to the van," Alex says "anyone know the way?"
"I do, follow me," Gabriel says but Dariush cuts him off of course "Okay. WhOa! WHoA. Slow your roll, Dora the Explorer, all right, this is my clique. Soldiers, out!" He scoffs, snapping his fingers probably meaning for us to follow but we don't and follow Gabriel instead "let's go!"

"Everyone's gone" we all pant, me falling slightly behind because of my injuries
Seeing no one's near the canoe lake, like when I say no one, I literally mean no one, nobody
"Assholes! Great going, Mia" Dariush accused me "me? You're the one who makes a big deal about everything" I said me
"Ok, I don't make a big deal about everything" he defends himself
"Guys, shut up," Gabriel says, angrily, causing me to shut my mouth closed "sorry" I mumble, not knowing what would happen if I anger him any more than he is
I hate this feeling my dad makes me feel, afraid
"They probably got the emergency signal and went back to camp" Alex suggests as the loud booms continue in the air "oh!"
The booms start to get louder, making me cover my ears to the loud noise it brought off "you okay?" Gabriel asked I gulp but nod
"What the fu--?" Dariush exclaims looking up at the sky then down at his phone
"Looks like explosions, in the upper atmosphere" Alex facts
"Call them and have them send the van to pick you up," Gabriel says as they take out their phones
"It's dead! I had 90% two seconds ago" Dariush whines slapping his phone
"Like that's gonna help" I roll my eyes at his stupidity
"Piece of shit Boost Mobile"
"Mine's dead, too," Alex says looking up at Dariush as the wind starts to pick up making whooshing sounds in the sky, causing us all to look up and find out where it's coming from. Airplanes soon shooting through the air, we all duck down to not get hit by them since they were so close to land
"Oh my god, it's independence day" Gabriel explains "It's June, Gabriel" Dariush yells at him
"Oh, wait, maybe North Korea's invaded! ZhenZhen, call it off!" Ah, so that's her name got it now. As she just stares at him.
"We just need to wait here until the adults realize they left us and come back" Alex says "Oh man! What if they never come back? I'm gonna die here with you losers?" Dariush freaks out again
"Jeez, Dariush calm the fuck down, ok It's not helping," I told him but he ignores me
"I never even had sex before!" He says but regrets it right after because he points his finger towards us "I'ma clear that up. I had sex... I had sex before, I mean... I haven't had sex with two girls at once. That's what I mean, I had sex. I told you I had sex cause" he corrects himself, pointing to Alex "no" Alex shakes his head, moving Dariush's hand down
"Alright, hey, look. We're not gonna die! It's probably a forest fire but we gotta get going, bears out here can be crazy" Gabriel says, wait bears I think I misheard
"Woah! Woah, slow your roll. Did you just say bears?" oh maybe I did not mishear
"I don't do too well with bears man, I'm not trying to get DiCaprio'd up in here" Dariush starts to panic but Gabriel places his hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down "Look, no one does well with bears" Gabriel tries to reason with him
"Oh," Daruish slaps Gabriel hand away "Whoa. Uh.. ask Werner Herzog, Grizzly Man lived with those things for years, so check that out" Dariush suggest
"Did you watch the end of that movie?" Gabriel asks I'm guessing the movie didn't end well "'Did I watch..' yeah, I watched the--no, I didn't what happened?" Dariush asks ZhenZhen
"No, dude. Okay, stop. Gabriel's right. Black bears are opportunistic carnivores. We're not gonna survive out here in the wilderness through the night" I nod pretending I understood half of the words that came out of Alex's mouth
"Then let's go! Come on!"
We all run back to the camp, my heart stammering on the inside of my bruised ribs that I needed to take a breath
"Hold on, guys I need to breathe" I exhale painfully, holding onto my chest
"We're almost there, Mia can't you last two seconds longer," Dariush said as I held my breath, following behind them.
"Hello!"
"Hello!" Alex claims as we enter the camp "where is everybody?"
"Is anyone here?"
"Yo, do you see anybody?"
We continue running more in the camp before seeing a sigh "what's that?" It said 'GONE DOWN MOUNTAIN-STRAGGLERS CALL 911' in big red letters
"Oh, they left us!" Dariush yells "They did" I whisper to myself
"What was that?" Dariush asks me "They left us! Now I'm stranded here with you" I looked at him, seeing him look offended
"Not so calm now, princess" he smirks I swear to god if he calls me one more pet name
"Not all of them" Gabriel yells "Huh?"
We all make our way to the scary dude passed out on the table "It's Heavy Metal Conrad" Dariush exclaims "Conrad!" "Conrad!"
"Is he dead?" Dariush asks as Gabriel checks his pulse "He's breathing. He must have slept through the evacuation" Gabriel explains
"What kind of asshole sleeps through an evacuation?"
"This one" I point to Conrad
"Wake him up" Alex tries shaking him but he doesn't budge when ZhenZhen takes out a flask with milk written on the outside of it and before we could say anything she places it on her lips and takes a sip, throwing it away, wiping her mouth afterward "I don't think that.. that was milk"
