Chapter One
Rim of the World

I FEEL EVERYONE STARING AT ME AS I walk through the camp, kids, parents, teens, captains but I don't blame them I mean I probably look homeless

"Honey, are you lost?" A middle aged woman asked me dressed in a red vest probably symbolizing that she works here but I ignore her because I wasn't actually lost, I knew exactly where I was, the place I've always dreamed of going

I hear whispers, why can't people just mind there own business

"Is she okay?"

"Is she supposed to be here?"

"Why does she look like that?"

I keep my head down low as I walk by everyone but it quickly shoots up when I hear an energetic voice "ay, welcome to Rim of the World adventure camp, my name is Logan and you are?" he welcomes me, how does he have so much energy? While all I feel is tiredness probably because I got no sleep walking here

I felt like I was so close to passing out

"Hey you okay?" He asks raising his arms out to help me being the last thing I feel as everything becomes black. I passed out.

I wake up to a million faces staring at me, well not really a million but you know what I mean

"She's awake" a blonde dude with a flask in his hand said

"No duh" the guy who welcomed me earlier said, Logan I think his name was

I sit up noticing I wasn't as dirty as I was when I got here, and my cuts weren't bleeding as much anymore

"Don't worry, she cleaned you up" Logan said pointing to the lady in the red vest from before.

I nod before realizing she must've seen my bruises

"Where'd you get these from sweetie?" She asks coming closer but I just move back before my back hits the wall of the bed

"I'm not gonna hurt you, what's your name?" She asks, sweetly why was she so nice to me? A stranger

"Uh, Cosimia" I finally bring myself to answer, my voice coming out raspy as it's been the first time I spoke in years

I clear my voice "but you can call me Mia" I finished as she nods

"Now would you mind telling me how you got these bruises, Mia" she asked as I feel my throat become dry, should I tell the truth? Would she believe me?

"I fell off my bike and took a wrong turn and fell into the woods before seeing this camp" I lied, I've lied so much to people that's it's become so easy to the point where the truth is harder to tell.

She nodded, meaning she believed me. I sighed in relief.

"Well here's some clothes you could wear until I wash the clothes you have on now" she said

"You have a washing machine at an outdoor camp?" I ask confused

"Shh, no one's supposed to know" she smiles placing her finger over her mout.

I tried moving my body to once side of the bed so I could stand up but a jolt of pain struck through my body making me sit back down.

As she holds her hand out for me to take it so she can help me up

I slowly take her hand before she pulls me up from the bed and walks me towards the bathroom in this private cabin.

She hands me the clothes as I shut the door behind me. I take off my clothes before slightly opening the door and handing her my dirty clothes

Hearing her say through the door "you should get some rest, we'll leave you alone" I nodded but knew she couldn't see as I hear footsteps fade from the room

I got changed and unlocked the door before making my way towards the bed again

"Did you know you're name means of the universe" Logan mentions before the lady rolled her eyes, pushing him out with her

Of the universe why would my parents name me that.

All these questions start to fill my head as I tuck myself in the warm covers and feel my eyes become heavy before falling into a deep sleep, one I never had in a long time.
