Q: What's your name/pen name?

A: My pen name is Winnie Smith!

Q: What's your sign?

A: I was born June 11th, so I would be a Gemini.

Q: What's something you wish you could shout out to the world right now?

A: DON'T CHANGE YOURSELF FOR ANYONE, BE THE PERSON THAT YOU WANT TO BE! ALSO FUCK COLESLAW.

Q: What's something toxic you'd like to change about Wattpad?

A: I'm not sure if it's considered "toxic" but I think the lack of representation should be changed. Most characters are the same, cardboard cutouts of the same person, like: Becky Swan, white, cis female, straight, hot as hell (but thinks she's ugly and plain), and no personality (expect being both insecure and perfect at everything). I'd like to see something different. Like, I want more diversity. I want trans characters as the lead, an arrangement of LGBTQ+ characters, and POC with depth and real emotions. It doesn't even have to be about their struggles as a minority or anything.

Q: How do you deal with vulnerability?

A: In all honestly, I'm not very good with being open and vulnerable. In general, I am a very closed off person. Talking openly about my feelings and thoughts makes me very—I don't know, uneasy? It's hard to explain. It just gives me this pukey feeling in my stomach when I talk about my vulnerabilities. Normally, I laugh and joke instead of addressing them head on. It is something I'm trying to work on. I'm trying to be more open and vulnerable in this interview!

Q: What do you believe in?

A: I'm a flat earther, I believe that the world is flat and NASA is lying to us all—just kidding. Ha, did I get you for a second?

In reality, I don't believe in a lot of things. I am not a religious person, I don't believe in an after life, and I don't believe in spiritual things. I am very skeptic. Though, I do wish I did believe in things like that. I believe in aliens (not the tiny little green dudes with ray guns, kind of aliens) and I believe in being kind to everyone.

Q: What's something considered uninteresting by friends/family that you enjoy/find intriguing?

A: I have a sort of odd and kind of specific taste. I really enjoy documentaries about old fashioned celebrities. Like, Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Mae West, and etc. I think it's fascinating learning about their life, their career back then, and (sometimes) their downfall. I also enjoy experimental horror films like Eraser Head, Antichrist, and Eyes Without a Face. My friends and family find it very strange.

Q: How did you know someone loved you/you loved them? (in any type of relationship, for example, family or friends)

A: I can tell someone loves me when they are willing to put up with my unlikeable traits/habits (as annoy as they can be). Like, when I don't answer calls or messages for a few days and my friends continue to stick with my through it. I can tell that I love someone when I don't want to imagine a world without them in it, as cliche as it sounds.

Q: Where does creativity have a place your life? (ex. art, writing, everything, etc.)

A: I truly believe that my creativity seeps into every orifice of my life. It finds a way to wiggle into every activity that I do. But, mainly, I think that my creativity is in my writing.

Q: What's the scariest thing you've done that was totally worth it?

A: I think putting my work on Wattpad. At first, I was terrified. Like, shaking little chihuahua scared. Looking back, I have no idea why I was so nervous. I think it's because I expected to get a lot of negative comments and hate for my work because it wasn't exactly polished/perfect. It was totally worth it. Even through I was scared of putting myself out there the outcome has been amazing. I've made a lot of friends, gotten a lot of support, and I've been able to grow through helpful criticism my readers give me!
