I wanted to vomit. I quickly made my escape leaving my bucket behind. I started to cry. I ran down the hall, but had the wind knocked out of me by someone tall. I caught my breath and balance. I looked up to see Jesse smiling down at me.
"Woah Y/N what's the rush?"
I was breathing rapidly.
"J-Jesse?!"
"Hey, are you crying?"
I tried to fix my composure. I wiped my face of tears.
"N-no I'm fine McCree. Just allergies."
"Ok, well anyways I was wondering if you wanted to ditch Reyes and go to the party, just you and me?"
I gasped. D-did he just ask me out?!
"I-I..."
"Of course, that was rude of me. Give it some thought ok?" McCree said.
I nodded and quickly walked away. I ran into my room. I tried to take a breath, but there was so much I didn't understand about all of this. My stomach couldn't handle it. I ran to my bathroom. I heard my door open moments later. It was Gabriel. I could hear his voice. He ran in when he saw me hunch over.
"Oh my god." He exclaimed as he ran.
I felt him hold my hair back as I gagged into the toilet. Gabriel sighed.
"We gotta stop meeting like this Y/N. Didn't I tell you to take it easy?"
I sobbed.
"I'm sorry Gabriel, but I wasn't drinking this time." I said looking over my shoulder.
I wiped my face and Gabriel brought me to the bed. We both sat down.
"Do you wanna tell me what's going on?"
I stared at him somberly crying and rolled my eyes.
"I just feel.......lost Gabe. There is a lot going on that I don't understand anymore."
"Say no more. I understand."
He wrapped his arms around me. We hugged eachother in a warm embrace. It felt....nice.
"Hey I was gonna take the group to lunch, but I couldn't find Jack and McCree was busy. Do you want to go grab a bite?"
I smiled and nodded a bit.
"I'd like that."
Gabe grinned back at me. I don't think I've seen him smile while he's sober. He stood from the bed and held his hand out. I took it and stood up with him and he led me to the garage. We got in his car and drove to an old fashioned cafe that we used to always go to down the street. We took our seats in the booth and ordered 2 strawberry milkshakes. Gabriel leaned back in the booth propping his arm on the edge of the seat.
"So Y/N, wanna tell me what's on your mind? Jack isn't fighting with you again is he?"
"Um, no. We haven't talked in weeks. I've noticed that he's been trying to avoid me. After everything he's done I thought it would satisfy me, but it doesn't."
"You actually miss seeing him?"
I nodded.
"Why?" Gabriel asked confused.
I shrugged.
"We agreed to try and get to know eachother more, but that hasn't happened since the agreement. He's just been asking me to clean the gym and locker rooms until my arm heals."
Gabriel leaned closer and narrowed his eyes.
"So he's not living up to this peomise you two made?"
I nodded.
"Son of a bitch." Gabriel slammed his fist on the table a bit. "I'm gonna teach him a lesson Y/N."
I grabbed Gabriel's arm.
"No.....please Gabe. No more fighting."
He leaned closer.
"Is there something you're not telling me?"
I took a deep breath and put my hands in my lap. I looked down ashamed.
"I was cleaning the mens locker rooms today."
"Ok, did something happen?"
I looked around us and leaned in to whisper.
"Look, you can not tell anyone about this ok? I'm serious."
"Y/N, as your friend your secrets are always safe with me. What is it?"
I leaned in a bit more and whispered.
"Jack was in the locker room when I walked in. He didn't see me, but I saw him...pull his pants down and..."
Gabriel chuckled.
"Ha! You caught the old man masturbating?!" Gabe exclaimed in a low whisper.
I raised a finger to my lips.
"Shhhhh!"
Gabriel snickered in silence.
"That poor lonely man! Wait, then why were you crying?" Gabriel asked.
I replayed what had happend in my mind. I heard Jack's deep voice let my name roll off his lips as he masturbated. It made me want to cry right there in front of Gabe.
"Y/N is there something you're not telling me?"
I took a deep breath and spoke in a trembling voice.
"Jack was saying my name while doing it."
I looked across the table. Gabriel was frozen. His eyes slowly widened like he had just seen a ghost. He started to breathe rapidly and his back hitting the back of the booth seat behind him. He pulled his hand down his face in shock.
"Jack.....he......he doesn't deserve you. That selfish bastard wants you all to himself."
"I can't believe my comander would think of me like that." I said sobbing into my hands.
Gabriel reached over the table.
"Y/N, I'm...I'm so sorry. You don't deserve this. I don't know what would make Jack so....obsessed with you. I mean....you are very pretty."
I looked up to see Gabriel's face grow a bit red. He smiled a bit while leaning over to scratch his head. I felt my face get hot.
"Don't worry Y/N. I'm going to make sure Jack stays away from you. How about you be my plus one to the party?"
I gasped.
"But what about Jesse?"
"Jesse? Heh, he'll just cause a distraction. He can go as Jack's buddy so he can be distracted rather than trying to get to you."
I thought for a moment.
"That is actually not a bad idea Gabe. Sure! I'd love to go with you."
"R-really?"
I nodded.
"Oh, great um. When do you want to leave?"
"How about 7?"
"Ok, uh...I'll come by at 7 then."
I smiled. Our milkshakes came to the table. We sat and drank and talked while we ate our food. The dance was in two days...
