The whole year had been mundane, spending 48 hours in a library just like law students do ,sitting in the monotonous setting and binge reading books that were assigned to us. I spent the year gulping down tons of coffee, coping with the rigor that the law school imposed on me , dealing with the stress and regretting my decision to join BADLANDS. I mean yeah I go round a good university and I'm not ungrateful but I'm not happy, it was my dream to solve cases not sit in a dull library reading pointless irrelevant material and constantly looking up remedies for eyebags on the Internet .
Meg had spent the year partying with friends from outside the University, it was hard to find "party people" ,as she calls them, here . A desolate and distant town in which the badlands uni stood. It was nowhere a person would find party people, you'd be alone, lost.
Raven and I convinced mags to study the whole year and she did but rarely . She was not mentally incompetent, she was a prodigy in hiding. She didn't want to be the best, she didn't want to be on the top, not in school, no, she had the potential but no. She also suffered from a mild case of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder),she was bored of law, of studying, of netflix, of youtube. She tried painting, tennis and just so many things to make her boredom satisfied but nothing quite made her satisfied. She couldn't watch movies anymore, she didn't read books, she didn't study. She said it was boring everything was boring.
Raven studied hard, it wasn't easy for her to get here. She said it was too late now to give up. BADLANDS was big, it was a big fat deal to everyone. No one knew how we got here but we did and to reach this point wasn't easy. It's like falling : the higher the platform you fall from, the more you get hurt. I was on the highest building (figuratively) BADLANDS, falling from here would be a failure after all my life trying if I was going to fall, my blood sweat and tears would have dried up in vain . I would have worked hard for nothing. Badlands was not a no-brainer . A lot of effort had gotten us here and we were not giving up. Raven and I . We studied day and night and that's every law student for you . The only person who didn't study from the whole school was MEG.
