A Scheme

Jeremy had quickly woken up from a restless night full of thinking to himself, wondering just how fucked up his thoughts had been, and attempting his best to just sleep on it. He grabbed at his arms, realizing that his slumber only brought his urge to be in Michael's arms to a higher level. He needed that hoodie, even for a couple of hours, to feel as though Michael were with him every second. Jeremy knocked gently at his forehead, letting out small grunts as he thought up ways to either repress his urges, or to get what he had been craving once more. A small gasp escaped his lips as he quickly stood up, an idea coming into mind that he decided to stick with. He left the house to get to school early; no bickering with his father, no porn, no changing his clothes, no obstacles. Just a simple stroll to school. He'd take a moment to think out his plan. What to say, what to do, how to achieve it without looking sketchy, and most importantly making sure that he didn't make his little crush painfully obvious. As he approached the school, he took a deep breath, and opened the door with confidence.
As Jeremy entered Middle Borough, he made his way to the bathroom to hide until more students had arrived. He took out his phone from his pocket as he leaned back, his body colliding against the wall gently as he read through the status updates and posts of his peers, keeping an eye on the time. What seemed like forever as Jeremy's body squirmed amongst itself, it finally became the time he had planned to seemingly arrive at school, making his way out of the bathroom in the same Eminem shirt from yesterday, and making his way into the cafeteria to greet his best friend.
"Hey, Michael!" He approached the boy wearing headphones, not getting an immediate answer as they initiated their best friends handshake. Michael then slid his headphones from his ears as his blasted Bob Marley song ended, resting them against his shoulders.
"Sup Jeremy?" He tried not to acknowledge the fact that Jeremy had been recycling a shirt, but soon decided to taunt him about it nonetheless as they sat down at their designated table. "Man, I knew you liked that shirt but I didn't think you wanted to wear it every day."
Jeremy bit his lip slightly, finding it hard to lie to his friend about his choice of clothing, as he stumbled over his words, "I-I was in a hurry," He began, fidgeting with his thumb, "didn't have any time to put more clothes on..." Michael glanced to the side, shrugging it off as he took a sip from his slushee, as Jeremy had decided to put his plan into action. He tried to put attention onto himself by giving a small shudder, hinting that he had been cold. He thought that if Michael saw he was cold, just like the night before, then he would offer him the hoodie again. Michael glanced over to him with an eyebrow raised, not acknowledging it much, before looking back to the school's lunch menu to decide whether or not to get his own lunch for the day.
Jeremy pouted slightly to himself, muttering a cuss word under his breath. He should have known that Michael wouldn't have been as willing to taken his hoodie off in public. He'd need a good reason to convince him to let him borrow it. As Jeremy hung his head in shame, Michael grimaced at the menu before him. "I'll be right back," He scoffed, "Imma go ask the lunch lady if the menu's right." With a disgusted expression, Michael got up from his seat to talk to the adults, leaving Jeremy alone to contemplate his failure.
He wasn't alone for long, though, before a cheerful short woman sat across from him, crossing one leg over the other. She had no food with her, so it was evadable that she only wished for a small conversation to pass the time. "Hey, Jeremy!" She greeted with a joyous wave, Jeremy looking up from messing with lint on his shirt.
"O-Oh, hey Christine," He nodded in greeting to her, "How was your weekend?"
"My weekend was amazing! I helped out with props at the children's theatre, and caught up with a bit of schoolwork, and even had some time to go to the movies!" She giggled to herself, grinning dorkishly before mentioning, "Oh, by the way," Those three words caused the hair on Jeremy's neck to stand, gulping to himself, "I saw you and Michael at the movies too! I would have said hi but you two seemed a bit busy!" Jeremy began to sweat as his pupils fell to stare at the floor. This wasn't like Christine– was she becoming suspicious about them? Did she want to know if they were dating or something? She usually hadn't been one to ask for drama! If anything, Jenna would be the one sitting across from him in an interrogation, but even if so, her time had been more caught up with Brooke. Maybe Chloe is mad at her for spending more time with someone else. Maybe Christine was her new Beta character and wanted the details from him. Maybe— "How was it? Did you like it? I adored the ending!"
Jeremy gave a huge, suspicious sigh of relief as he smiled, nodding. "I liked the ending too. Some scenes were pretty boring though."
"I know, right! And don't you think the secondary female character's acting was a bit off? I mean, not saying I could best her, but perhaps in a high school production I could–" Naturally, something else seemed to have grabbed Christine's attention as she rose to her feet. "I'm gonna get going, Jeremy, it's my turn to give Mr.Reyes his morningly hot pocket! Talk to you later!" As she swiftly turned around and took off, Michael sat next to him with a huff. As Michael's body shuffled past Jeremy to get to his seat, a bit of dust arose from the tables, getting caught up under his nose to cause Jeremy to let out a hearty sneeze, his hands still grasping his shoulders.
Michael's attention had been caught by such a noise as he glanced over to him, his facial expression filled with concern. "Oh gosh," He placed a hand over his mouth, "Did you get a cold from last night? Poor dude, and this school is freezing so that doesn't help at all."
Jeremy's eyes lit up as he realized that he may not have been a complete failure after all. He gave a small, quiet sniffle, along with a nod. "Yeah, I wish I would've grabbed my c-cardigan... Now I don't have anything to cover up my arms..."
Michael frowned slightly, glancing down to his own clothing before sighing and slipping his hoodie off once more. "Here, man, borrow it for the day. I'll be okay, as long as you don't get too sick and barf all over it." Jeremy let out a small chuckle as Michael helped him with carefully putting the hoodie on, buried in comforting warmth once more.
"Don't worry, I won't." Jeremy reassured as he practically melted into every little cloth particle that made up the hoodie, even enjoying its weed-like scent, before Rich Goranski stood before them with a smirk on his face.
Iconically, he shouted out "Gay!" towards their romantic-ish actions. Of course, he and Jeremy had been friends at this point, but that didn't mean he couldn't still taunt him. At least this time it had only been in front of a small crowd, maybe two or three people, before the short man walked away. The emptiness of the cafeteria brought both Jeremy and Michael to the realization that they had been running late to class, Jeremy rushing to throw his trash away and speed walking into the halls along with Michael by his side. "Oh gosh, oh gosh, why does this always happen??" He sputtered to himself, Michael just chuckling.
"Because you apparently can't keep track of time for nothin'." They both ran into the classroom, rushing to the back of the room to sit in the cornered desks directly next to each other, their behinds colliding with the wood of their seats just as the bell rings. The two of them sigh in relief, Michael stretching his arms as Jeremy slumped back in his seat to bask in his own satisfaction. He was so comfortable at this point, he never wanted to move again. He was so glad that his planning eventually worked out in his favor,
and he was more than prepared to spend the entirety of the school day like this.
