Elena knocked on the door to Ric's apartment.
I opened the door, but kept her outside in the hall. "Morning sunshine."
"Hey, how's Alaric?" Elena asked, trying to step around me.
I stepped in her way. "Indecent. But fine."
"So then, does that mean there were no issues last night?" Elena asked.
"Nope," I told her. "Slept like a baby, woke up Alaric. No head minds about dead council members."
"Then why do I feel like you're hiding something from me?" Elena asked.
I looked at the ceiling, nodding with a forced look of curiousity. "Well, maybe because you're being all paranoid and control freaky." I looked at the bag in her hands. "What'd you bring me?" I took the bag, sniffing. "Ooh, chocolate muffins. You know what they say; a way to a psycho killer's heart is through his stomach."
Elena took the bag away from me. "They're not for you."
"Fine," I told her. "Keep convincing yourself you're still mad at me. But sadly, Ric's gonna have to miss Elena time today. You know lockdown and all."
"Just take it and give it to him and tell him that I miss him, okay?" Elena asked, handing me the bag of muffins.
"With pleasure," I said sarcastically.
"Please," Elena told me.
I started to close the door on her. "Have a great day, thanks for coming by."
"Kay . . ." Elena trailed off.
I closed the door in her face, walking over to Ric, Damon and Stefan, who were all standing by a saw with the Wickery Bridge sign. I was listening to Elena as she was leaving. "Walking down the stairs, opening the front door, and she's gone."
Ric turned on the saw and began to saw the sign.
*
Damon, Ric, Stefan and I were creating stakes from the Wickery Bridge sign.
Stefan looked at one of the stakes, walking toward Damon, handing the stake to him. "This needs to have a sharper point."
"I got it," Damon told him.
"We finally have our own stakes to kill an Original," Stefan told him. "I'm not gonna miss because you can't whittle."
"He said that he got it," I told him. "Stop micromanaging."
Damon sharpened the point of the stake.
Ric pulled on his jacket. "Looks like you guys have got this under control. I'm gonna call the Sheriff." We all looked at him. "I want to turn myself in."
"No, you don't," Damon told him.
"I have a homicidal alter ego," Ric told us. "Unlike some people in this room, I would like to take responsibility for the people I've killed."
"If you wanted to turn yourself in, you wouldn't be saying it out loud," Damon told him. "Just saying."
"Hey, listen, out of all the people you cannot psychoanalyze me," Ric told him. "I killed Caroline's father; I nearly killed Meredith. Everything's changed."
"Look, you're not turning yourself in," Stefan told him. "Bonnie's herbs are working and we have Originals to kill."
"His morals get very questionable when he has revenge on the brain," I told them.
"Klaus needs to die," Stefan told us. "We finally have the chance to kill him, so you are not turning yourself in."
Damon stood, walking toward Ric, holding out the Gilbert ring. "Here's your ring, Ric. Put it on."
