I hurried down the rows of gravestones, my heels clicking on the concrete beneath me, a vaguely eery atmosphere hanging over the place in the early evening light. I knew I had to get back to the motel as quickly as possible before she had a chance to follow me so I rushed to the bus stop rather than waiting to call a taxi, in the hope that it would get me back before the effects of my words wore off. The bus was 7 minutes late and much to my displeasure there was a tonne of traffic and with every passing minute I got more and more anxious of the time, my feet tapping against each other, my eyes constantly glancing at the time on my phone.
After far too long, the bus pulled up at my stop and I jumped off the bus and sprinted past the desk, up the hall to my room. With my hand on the door handle I sighed in relief, the door belonging to the woman was still locked and there was no way she could have gotten back before me, no matter how long the effects had left her stood there. For all I knew, she could still be trying to force her way out of the graveyard. "Fuck" I whispered under my breath. What if she was still there? Trapped in a graveyard at night, alone, scared and more confused than she had ever been before, with no idea why she can't move. 'Okay, Warren, it's okay. She attacked you. You had to leave or she could have found out something. She could have told someone. It will wear off soon. She'll be fine and soon enough you'll be out of this shithole and you'll never have to come here again.', I told myself as my key clicked in the lock and I pushed my door open. I stepped in and locked the door behind me, my hand reaching out and fumbling for the light switch in the dark when suddenly I felt the full weight of something grab onto me and pull their hands tight around my neck. I screamed and thrashed my legs and arms around desperately, trying to pull myself free but a hand clamped around my mouth, muffling my shouts. "Again, I really am sorry about this but I need to know whatever it is that you know", her voice said in my ear before I felt the force of something heavy being smashed against the side of my head and everything went black.
