Gotham City had succumbed to an abyss of darkness. The news revealed that many people had responded to Jerome's call to action, revealing their true selves and unleashing rampage through the streets - an uncontrollable force not to be reckoned with.
Amid the pandemonium, we were still recuperating from our alone time. It was almost like a secret getaway, some kind of honeymoon, right before we returned to the chaos. I changed into a black-and-white ensemble: a crop top paired with black pants and white boots. Jerome wore a white leather suit, a straightjacket connecting to matching pants.
"My, my, doll..." Jerome's voice purred from behind. My eyes diverted from my reflection in the mirror to catch his figure seated at the edge of the bed. Leaning back, his hands supported his weight, a smirk played on his lips. "You're so damn beautiful."
Blushing, I responded, "Thank you. And you, always so handsome."
"I got all handsome for you," He replied playfully, winking. Laughter erupted as I shook my head, him joining in with a cute giggle before giving me an innocent smile. "I kinda wanna stay and repeat yesterday night all over again."
The heat on my face deepened, making him grin. Turning to him, "Gladly." I replied, making his eyes widen with excitement, "But we can't." I added and giggled at his pout.
Jerome stood up and approached me, his tone whiny, "Don't laugh at me." Cupping my face, he planted a hard kiss on my cheek, making my hysterics grow. He wrapped his arms around me, resting his cheek on my temple. "Hey, baby, who are those from?"
Following his gaze, I noticed the roses, still surprisingly vibrant red after two weeks. Olga's gardening skills had preserved them well. My lips pursed. "Not sure. They were sent to me two weeks ago," I mumbled truthfully, observing his confused expression. I shrugged, smirking. "Probably a suitor."
Jealousy flashed in his eyes, "Suitor? Hm, well, they're wrong if they think they can just have you."
I smirked amusedly and kissed him deeply, eliciting a groan from his throat. I pulled from him and smirked at him. "They really are."
Jerome grinned, pecking my lips. "Let's go. The faster we kill that billionaire, the faster I get to have you to myself again." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door.
"So impatient." I beamed, rolling my eyes.
As we approached the living room, the door creaked open, causing Jerome to brandish his gun. He pushed me behind him, ready for a confrontation with the GCPD, but it wasn't them. Unexpectedly, a figure emerged clad in green - Edward.
Edward's initial stress turned into shock as soon as he laid eyes on us - well, specifically Jerome. It looked like he wanted to run and hide the minute he caught a glimpse of my boyfriend's gory face.
"Jerome." He muttered in disbelief, eyes wide and mouth agape, "... Alive. I -"
Jerome's state of alert dropped as recognition dawned on him, and he greeted him with a lively cackle. "Brother-in-law!" He walked toward Edward with outstretched arms and pulled him into a hug. Suppressing laughter, I watched the scene unfold.
My brother was taken aback. "Wha -?" He began to question but let out a grunt when Jerome squeezed him a little tighter. I let out a quiet giggle, staring at the adorable scene.
