6 MONTHS LATER
[Lanys is sitting on the porch. She is holding the silver pocket watch in one of her hands and she is looking at the sky]
Lanys: (softly) Six month since I got here and I have no clue how to return, if I can return.
[Lanys looks at the pocket watch]
Lanys: (softly) what do you want from me? I put everything back together, my parents are dating and Peter...
[Karl arrives from his afternoon run and he stops right in front of Lanys]
Karl: What are you doing?
Lanys: Nothing, just looking at the sky.
Karl: Did you do your chores?
Lanys: Yeah, a while ago.
Karl: Good. Hey, school is almost over. How do you feel?
Lanys: Eh.
Karl: What do you mean "eh"?
Lanys: Exactly that.
Karl: I'm just anxious because in a few weeks is my Senior Prom.
[Lanys smiles at looks at Karl]
Lanys: Yes, did you ask May out?
Karl: No, I'm afraid she'll say no.
Lanys: No, she won't. You two have been dating for months now.
Karl: Dating? Who told you we were dating? And how do you know of that word?
Lanys: The soap operas or "Novelas" that Ma watches all the time and you can't say you two haven't been dating. You see each other every week, ever since that time you ate ice cream with her, you two see each other all the time.
[Karl tries to ignore what Lanys is saying]
Karl: I don't know. I think I will...
Lanys: No, no...
[Lanys stands up and starts walking]
Karl: Where are you going?
Lanys: To the market.
Karl: On foot?
Lanys: Yes, since you are too chicken to ask May out, I'm going to ask her for you.
Karl: What? No!
Lanys: Too late, I'm walking.
[Lanys continues to walk, and Karl goes after her]
Karl: Stop, Lanys.
Lanys: No.
Karl: Fine. I'll ask her.
Lanys: Still walking that way.
Karl: (frustrated) Ahh!
[Karl runs to the house and comes back with a new bicycle and rides past Lanys]
Karl: I'll be back in a minute.
[Lanys stops and smiles]
Lanys: (softly) he really thought I was going to walk almost two hours to the market, he must be crazy.
[Lanys walks back to the porch and sits down]
Lanys: (softly) their first kiss is on prom, which is when they become official. That can't be changed.
[Lanys looks back at the sky]
Lanys: (softly) I miss my sisters.
[Lanys stands up and walks inside the house]
2 WEEKS LATER
[Karl is seen standing in his living room, he has a tuxedo on and a rose in his hand. Lanys is checking that everything is fine]
Lanys: You look sharp, Karl.
Karl: Thanks. I couldn't believe she said yes.
Lanys: Of course, she did. Never doubted it.
[Ma comes out of a room with a perfume bottle on her hands]
Ma: Your Pa uses this perfume, stand still.
[Ma sprays some perfume around Karl and he coughs]
Ma: May is going to love your smell.
Karl: I don't even think I like it.
Ma: She'll love it, don't worry.
Lanys: You are ready for the Prom.
[Karl smiles]
Lanys: You got everything?
Karl: Yes, I am ready.
[Ma gives Karl the car keys]
Ma: Here you go, son. Take care of the car and enjoy your night.
Karl: I will, Ma. Thanks.
[Karl hugs Ma and then gives a nod to Lanys]
Lanys: You go kiss her, okay?
Ma: Lanys!
Lanys: Sorry, Ma.
[Karl smiles at Lanys' comment and leaves the house]
Lanys: (softly) good luck.
Ma: Lanys, it's past your bedtime.
Lanys: But...
Ma: No buts, my sweet child.
Lanys: (disappointed) okay...
[Lanys leaves for her room and lies on her bed]
Lanys: (softly) I wonder if I'll ever return home.
[Lanys closes her eyes and in the corner of the room the silver pocket watch starts to Flash and an annoying noise is heard]
