Destroyer

Fire.
Fire burning beneath my skin. Fire spreading like blood in water inside my body.

Electricity.
Electricity keeping me awake even when I has no energy to move. Electricity frying my mind and torching my flesh.

Pain.
Pain so unbearable I feel as though I am fading away more every second. Pain so intense I feel I could die with every breath.

This is all I felt fo what seemed like an eternity. Winter stayed with me for as mush of it as he could, but he had his own responsibilities.

He told me what they did to me. How they burned my flesh, branding me to show me that I was nothing. Sending poison through my veins to taint my mind and kill off my cells.

The more winter told me about what happened the worse the pain got. Yet, despite this, I couldn't bring myself to tell him to stop. I couldn't bring myself to tell the only person that cares for me, (possibly ever cared for me) to stop talking to me. The thought of him leaving was more painful than anything Hydra could do to me.

After two and a half weeks I could finally move enough to see the full extent of what they did to me.

The brands were nasty and made it difficult to move. I'm not going into the details. I'll leave that up to your own imagination.

The poison they used was also still showing it's affects. My veins had a greenish tent to them. My breathing was shallow and my thoughts were scattered.

Winter

It was hard seeing the kid so weak and frail. Some part of me is saying he deserves it. He disobeyed Hydra and his masters. I tried to tell myself that that was Hydra talking and not me, but the voice sounds pretty convincing sometimes.

I was headed to Perice's office when I over heard his conversation with another agent.

"I plan on putting him back in cryo after whipping him again." The man in question said.

"And Destroyer?" The other agent asked.

"He will join his partner soon enough. First we must run a few more tests." The monster explained.

"Everything we have done to him would of killed some agents here. If not that, then definitely have then completely unconscious for weeks and out of the field for close to a year. Yet it seems Destroyer will be ready for combat again in a month."

I froze. This didn't sound good.

"Well," the other agent began, "has he had treatment of any kind?"

Perice shook his head, "Just water thown on him once a week."

I backed up as the agents turned. The thought of them putting the kid through more tests worried me. But I knew something else.

They were right when they said they've thrown water on him. I just don't think they realize how much it's done. I was the one with him most of the time so they had me dump water on him once a week.

Every time I did, something crazy would happen. His wounds would get smaller and less intense. I know this sounds crazy, but I think there is a chance the kid is a mutant. It would explain why the one a few months ago shit him.

I don't know what exactly but there is something special about him, and I really don't want Hydra to find out.

Time skip

Perice was right, I'm getting whipped again today. I need to talk to the kid again, let him know what I've been thinking. I need to know he'll be okay when I'm gone.

I hurried down to his room. The kid was sitting on his bed with his head against the wall. His eyes were closed and there was a glass of water next to him.

"Kid," I said when I entered, "I need to talk to you."

"Winter, what's going on?" He asks startled.

"I'm getting whipped again, but there is something I need to know first. And there is something you need to know."

He sat up and folded his hands. "Winter, you're scaring me. What's going on?"

I shake my head. "I think your a mutant. The water has been healing you. The mutant a few months ago tried to kill you. It all adds up."

The kid let's out a low laugh. "I think I would know if I were a mutant."

"A lot of mutants don't discover their powers till they are 15 or 16. We figured your about 16 so it fits. I really think I'm on to something."

The kid laughed, "Winter! Listen to yourself! I'm not a mutant."

I let out a low growl. I lunged at him, and grabbed the water that was next to him. I threw it at his face, but he wasn't wet.

I was.

It was like an invisible shield around him. The water bounced off him and on to me.

The kid gasped and backed away. "You- you were right!"

I smile, "I was right." I freeze. The reality of why I'm here sets in. "I'm getting whipped in an hour. I won't remember this when I come out.

"They are going to put me back in cryo so it will just be you. You can't let anyone know about this. If you do, they'll never let you leave."

He nods. "The only chance of us ever getting out of here is keeping this from the most dangerous organization in the world."

I sigh. "yeah. I heard them say you'll go into cryo soon, but they are gonna run a few more tests. The only thing I can think of it give them a reason to put you in cryo sooner."

The kid laughs, "So I need to make a scene so horrible I get put in the man sized freezer. Great."

I drop his shoulder. "I have to go now, but I know you'll figure it out. I trust you."
