Elena (On Hold)

Encounter

Elena's hands were tangled around Victor's neck as the kissed. They were both shocked at Elena's sudden move but neither complained. They both jumped as they heard a loud thunder clap. Elena closed her eyes and turned around slowly as an angry voice spoke from the shadows.

"Elena! What in Heavens name are you doing?" The man stepped out of the shadows. It was King Fain. Elena's father.

Elena looked at her father angrily. "Victor please return to the feast." He began to open his mouth in protest but stopped at the pleading look that Elena gave him. Victor turned around and walked off into the darkness.

Elena looked back at her father preparing for the fight that she knew was coming.

"Elena," her father hissed. "You are on a quest to save the world! You can not be distracted by a petty romance." cried Fain angrily.

More thunder claps were heard as Elena shot back a reply. "Odium has been walking on this land for centurys now. What makes you think that he's going to destroy the world all of a sudden?" she asked her voice raising at every word.

Rain started to fall.

"What makes you think he won't?" Shot back Fain.

Elena's eyes narrowed in anger. "What if I don't want to serve you anymore?"

King Fain looked at Elena in shock. "Y- you can't! Not when the world needs you so desperatly." he spluttered.

"Why me?" screamed Elena. A knife appeared suddenly in her hand as King Fain walked towards her. "Don't come near me!"

Fain stopped. If he wasn't angry before he was angry now. A bolt of lightening hit the spot where Elena was standing only moments before. But she didn't wince. A sword appeared in his hand as suddenly as the knife did in Elena's hand. They started to circle each other slowly. Fain was the first one to strike. As he moved forward Elena let out a blood curdling battle cry.

The sound of steel crashing could not be heard over the sound of thunder......
