Baby Steps (18)

One month later

Khushi has now started living with Lavanya. She has also started her studies and a part-time job at AR. She is learning everything very quickly and impressively, as Arnav expected. Akash also keeps looking for her and guiding her, fearing that she doesn't end up making any mistake which can result in Arnav getting angry. Although, they both know that Arnav is doing everything to make Khushi comfortable and learn everything properly but he is very serious about work, so it's still good to avoid any type of mishaps.

Khushi smiled looking at Lavanya who is again arguing with Sim and Pam for trying to mess with her work and demean her. Her smile widened thinking how a few months ago, this same woman didn't use to miss any single chance to insult her and make her life difficult and now, she is ready to fight with anyone for her.

Her reverie was broken by the shouting, coming from the boss's office. She looked above from her seat, trying to understand that, what happened to piss him off but she couldn't see anything. Soon, she found one of the staff coming out of his office and looking completely shaken.

She frowned, now what happened to turn Arnav ji into that Laad Governor again? She turns her head to look at Lavanya but found her gone, also Sim and Pam settled back at their workplace. A chuckle left her mouth, Arnav ji can really scare the whole building with just his one roar.

She looks at the time, her working hours are almost over and she has completed all the work given to her. Though she still feels it unbelievable but Arnav ji is now her friend and has been standing beside her like a strongest pillar who is ready to go any length, just to keep her safe and happy. The person who once took ought to make this place hell for her is now does everything to make her feel comfortable here.

Khushi knocks on the door of Arnav's cabin and he tells to come inside, without even looking up from his laptop to see who is it. She walks inside and stands in front of his desk without saying anything and Arnav frowned at the same before looking up, all set to shout at the person but stopped looking at Khushi.

"Khushi?"

"Khushi, what are you doing here? And why didn't you speak anything?" Arnav questioned while getting up from his chair and coming around the table to stand in front of her.

"I just wanted to analyze, first," Khushi answered with a smile.

"Analyze, what?"

"That, just how pissed are you. Didn't want to become your next target." Khushi pouts and Arnav shakes his head.

"Crazy girl! Now sit down and tell me how is everything going?"

"Everything is going perfectly. Akash Bhai thinks that I am catching up quite well and Lavanya, well she is trying to act like my security." She frowned while speaking the last line and Arnav chuckles at that but stopped when she glared at him.

"Sorry! And Khushi, not only Akash but even I think your progress is really good. Just keep working like this and you'll soon start working without any help but you need to concentrate on your studies as well." Khushi nodded and Arnav continued.

"So, this weekend, when you'll come to stay at Shantivan, we'll go through your progress and you can also ask anything in which you're having any doubts."

"Now enough about me." Khushi interrupts him before he can continue further.

"Tell me, what made you so angry? And don't say nothing, remember we promised that we'll share all our problems with each other?." Khushi questioned with full authority which surprised Arnav but he didn't say or do anything which can make her embarrassed.

"There is nothing to hide, Khushi. That man, on whom I was shouting, I found that he was leaking some important information of AR to our rivals. So, I fired him and made sure that he won't get any other job easily." Khushi looked at him stunned, that man was really a fool if he thought ASR won't come to know about it or let him go without any punishment.

"Oh! That's really bad. I hope it didn't cost AR any big loss?"

"Nothing, which can't be recovered. We got to know about him on time before he could cause any big loss for AR." Arnav answered as a matter of fact and Khushi just nodded in response.

"Khushi, you really don't need to think about all this." After a pause, "So, you're coming to Shantivan day after tomorrow and I was thinking that why don't we all have dinner outside that evening?"

"Anything special?"

"No! But I thought it'll be a good change. Mami was anyways complaining that it's been a long time and I don't know but Di is acting weird these days." Khushi looks at him confused so he cleared further.

"I don't know but she seems really confused, in fact, she was telling that when you come on this weekend, she wants to talk with us. So I was thinking that, if this dinner can lift her mood as well."

"Then, that's a good idea, Arnav ji. Also, now I am more curious to know what Anjali ji wants to talk with us."

"So am I," Arnav replied.

It was weekend and as planned Khushi and lavanya has come to spend it in Shantivan. They were now sitting in the living room with the raizada women, chatting among themselves while waiting for Arnav and akash to finish their video conference, so they can go for dinner as planned.

Though Khushi didn't say or pointed directly, she can see that Anjali is looking at her again and again, ready to speak something but stops herself every time. She frowns as she remembers her conversation with Arnav and decides to talk with Anjali after they return back from dinner, tonight.

Hearing the voice of footsteps, she turns around to see Arnav and Akash descending the stairs, dressed casually. Akash' appearance didn't surprise her but Arnav, dressed in that rugged jeans, white tee, and blue casual blazer left her mouth hanging in surprise.

She keeps looking at him until he was standing in front of her and cleared his throat to get her attention. She instantly looks away, feeling embarrassed but found almost similar expressions as hers on the faces of other women.

"Chotte, where did you find these clothes? I thought you throw away whatever clothes I get for you. According to you, it doesn't suit your businessman image." Anjali started speaking, breaking the silence making Arnav look around awkwardly.

"Di, stop exaggerating! You also know that I can never throw away your gifts." Arnav replied looking embarrassed.

Khushi, who was smiling looking at their cute interaction realizes that Arnav is feeling awkward, so she decides to divert the topic. "Ok. That's enough! Shall we leave? I am feeling really hungry."

Everyone agrees with a smile and started moving outside when suddenly Arnav leaned beside Khushi's ear and whispered: "Thank you!"

Khushi freezes on the spot feeling his warm breath tingle around her ear and something weird happening inside her stomach. Her cheeks turn red and she instantly looks around to see if anyone saw it but found herself alone.

She instantly runs outside to follow others while thinking, She really needs to control these weird feeling which arouses whenever she is around Arnav.
