True Queen, those words haven't left my mind all day. They are haunting. I don't even know what to do now. I mean, I guess I put the book back. I'm just going to put the book back and then I need to talk to mom about this. I am losing my mind.
Here we are, back at the library. I walk back to the back slowly, scared that I might get let in again. Once to the spot go ahead and pull out the blank book from my bag and then look up at the spot that it was sitting this morning. There is another blank book there. I then look back at the book in my hand and while I was sure that it had no name this morning when I put in my bag, it now has my name on the cover. I pull out the other diary from my bag and start to compare the two. And they look like the same type of journal.
Yup, this has gotten past my level of weird. Not knowing what to do with the books, I shove them back into my bag. I then pull out my phone and my little kneadable eraser that I play with when I have a panic attack, or just get antsy.
"Mom," I say into the phone after I heard her answer.
"Yeah, what is up sweetie? You sound scared." She pointed out.
"Can you meet me in the library, as fast as you can?" I ask.
"Yeah, of course I am on my way. What is wrong?" She asked again.
"I don't know how to explain it. It is easier if I just show you, please." I said starting to slide down into a ball.
"Ok, ok I am on my way. I am almost there. You are ok." Mom said and I could tell she was hurrying by now. I don't want to scare her, but things are happening and I no longer understand them.
"Ok, thank you." I told her quietly leaning back on the back of a bookcase across from where the secret passage is.
"Ok I am at the door. This place is huge, where are you?" My mom asked when she entered.
"I am in the very back." I answered.
"Hey Jen, what happened?" my mom asked me hanging up when she rounded the corner.
I then pulled out the journal and told her what happened this morning and when I had gotten back here.
"Ok, so, what you are telling me is that; you found a book that was completely blank. And that there was a lever behind it, and you pulled it. A passageway then opened, and you went inside it. You got trapped in there, and then found a book by one of the past Queens with maps that you used to find your way out. You found a secret overgrown garden that you loved and then went to breakfast through the passages. And when you can back to put the book back, the book had your name on it, and there was a new blank book in its place, right?" My mom summed up. and I nodded.
"Ok, I need to see this, to know where to go from here." My mom said looking down at my face to see if I would open the door.
"Ok, let me just open the door." I told her standing up walking towards the bookcase.
I then pulled the book out and pulled the lever down like I did this morning. I then double checked I had the map book, so we weren't completely screwed. My mom was at my side smiling at me encouragingly.
"Ok, now I just push in the door." I told her before pushing in the door and stepping inside, with her following. The door then shut behind us.
"I am trusting that you can get us out of here." My mom said as she turned on her phone's flashlight.
"Yeah, I checked and made sure the I have the map." I said walking over to the bookcase that had the candle on it last time. I then opened the top drawer of the bookcase and took out another candle and candle holder.
"What are you doing now?" my mom asked coming up to me.
"Lighting this candle so we don't have to waste our phone's batteries." I told her as I got the little match box out of my bag, before lighting the match. I then lit the candle. "So where do you want to go?" I asked her.
"How about that garden you told me about." She said carefully.
"Ok," I said giving her a small smile.
I then started to lead her down the halls to the garden, making sure she was always behind me. I then stopped at the dead end.
"Did we take a wrong turn?" mom asked confused.
"No," I responded in a monition voice as I pulled the lever.
"Mother forking shirt balls," my mom cursed in Good Place language, when the door opened.
"Yeah," we then walked into the garden and I went and sat down the candle, making sure to blow it out first. There will be no fire on my watch. I went and sat on the swing while mom took everything in.
After a few minutes she was back and asked me, "What are you afraid of with these places? Because I know that you are not afraid of this place, and the passage ways sound like your dream come true. So, what is it? Is it Cyn?"
"No, it is that whole True Queen thing. I mean, I'm not some true queen, I'm some ones desperate attempt." I said as I stopped swinging.
"Oh, just forget about it. You are going to make an amazing Queen. I can't wait to see what you are going to do with the world. Because you are going to take it by storm."
"You think," I asked her quietly, looking up.
"Yes, now because you will not listen to me, go and call that little duchess, and see what see says about you being Queen." My mom instructed me, with a smirk.
"Ok I will in a bit, I think I just want to try and think somethings through first." I told her.
"That is fine, but first you are going to have to get me out of here." She said making us both chuckle.
