I was sitting in a chair surrounded by staff, and my mom, it was an hour before the ball. The ball was basically a ball to say hey I exist. Most of the staff is the regular staff, but there is also a makeup artist and a hair stylist here too. I am already in my dress. It is a royal purple off the shoulder mermaid dress. It did great things for my tiny curvy body. It had silver thread in all of the seams so when I move it plays with the light, but only a little bit.
"Hey, girl" Amanda said on the facetime that I just set up.
"Hey," I tell her handing the phone to Liliana, to put on the vanity they have me sitting in front of me. I have a big black sheet over me, like if I was getting my hair cut, to make sure that nothing happens to the dress.
"So, how did you date go?" She asked in a very commanding voice. And a course of "Oh yes, tell us, please" came after. Even my hair stylist behind me said, "Your highness, spill," both keeping the tone that was needed for that sentence, but still being respectful of my title.
"Ok, it was great. We just talked for hours. She is just so easy to talk to. And she held my hand... It was nice." I said with my cheeks puffing into a goofy smile.
"Good for you. Also, your face looks like a strawberry." Amanda told me laughing at my innocent childish excitement.
"I know, I am going to have to wear makeup so this doesn't happen tonight." I said laughing a little as well as the man behind me finished drying my hair.
"Wait she is going to be there." Her eyes lit up, with intrigue.
"Yes, I asked her yesterday, if she would save me a dance. She said yes." I said needing to shake my hands in excitement. It is an Aspy thing, called stimming. I am so happy.
"Also, because I fell down the stairs yesterday, at the very start of my date, in flat foot boots, I am not allowed to wear high heels. So, win for me." I told her still trying to retain in my crazy and movement so they could continue to work.
"Oh, no, how bad did you fall?" She said shaking her head knowing how badly I can fall.
"It wasn't that bad." I told her now no longer shaking my hands.
"Don't let her lie to you, Amanda. I saw the security camera video of her fall. It was something. We made her sleep with ice packs, on her hands.
"I am doing fine." I defend as the makeup artist starts to put on some light foundation, so I don't look like Black Widow's hair.
"Well, I am glad that being a princess, hasn't changed you. You are still falling all over the place, and blush at the smallest comment." She said once again laughing at me and I just laughed along, to the annoyance of the makeup artist.
"So, you really are falling for this girl, hu." She said more like a question.
"Um... yeah... yeah... I, I think I might be." I stuttered, out feeling my face flush once again.
"Hey, if you pass out, while dancing, try not to fall, in the most compromising position possible." She told me trying to hold a straight face, before laughing.
"Ok, your hair is done, Your Royal Highness." My hair stylist said. I had opted for a braided up-do with my long brown hair.
"Great thank you, Andre." I told him.
"And your makeup is finished as well." The makeup artist told me.
"Thank you, Vinnie." I told him.
"Time for your crown and accessories, your Highness." Lillian said to me.
"Sounds great," I told her as she grabbed them for me.
"Oh, I want to see. Please, the whole thing." Amanda said as she looked at me through her phone.
"Always, Andre, would you put the tiara on my head?" I asked him.
He then set on top of my head an intricate silver tiara with purple diamonds, amethyst, and purple sapphires.
"Alright, now can we take off the black little cloak?" I asked, trying not to lose my mind. Just keep focused. Panic later, look good now.
"Of, course," Liliana said as they removed it.
I then stood up in my luxurious dress. I grabbed the thick silver bracelet cuffs that I had chosen a while ago. They matched my tiara. I then a grabbed the simple silver necklaces that would lay on my collar. I then took a couple of steps back, while having Liliana grab my phone.
"So, how do I look?" I asked the people gathered. I keep smoothing out my dress, warily, "I don't look to chubby, or over dressed, or underdressed..."
"You look so great!" Amanda yelled over my worries.
" You look amazing Jen, I guess, this is what it would have felt if you had a prom. I am so proud." My mom told me, bringing me into her embrace. She was also done up for the event.
"You look wonderful, your highness," Lillian told me after me and my mom had broken our embrace. The other staff was quick to agree to her sentiment.
"You are going to rock this." Amanda told me when I took my phone back from Liliana.
"Thank you, I will talk to you soon. Bye," I told her.
"Bye," She replied before I pressed the end call button. I then closed my phone and handed it to Liliana asking her to leave it in my room for me.
"Your highness, it is time." Theodore said as he walked into the room.
