Every wall that Emer saw was gray, or brown, she was beginning to not like the thought of going into town. She thought everything was going to be roses and those colorful things in the sky (Rainbow). "Emer, do you believe in magic?"

"Magic? I think I could believe it. Isn't that why people are scared of us, because we are witches who control their minds with our magic powers?"

"Well, that's what they say, but have you ever see your parents or other cursed use magic? Think about it, their only scared because they don't understand you. The only magic about cursed is there demise."

"What does demise mean?"

"Let me change that for you to understand a little better, demise is another word for ending or death."

"Oh, like how mama and papa turned into stone after that big bad man grabbed his boom boom thing and went pow!"

"Its a gun Emer, a gun." Vales laughed with the biggest smile on his face. "You sure don't know a lot huh Emer? I guess its a good thing Angel is teaching you, or else you wouldn't know anything." As they walked Emer could see the whole world change, right under her feet. Valens was happy, and so was she. Emer couldn't escape the feeling that this tall scary man, was more then just her master.

"Mommy, let go of me I'm a big boy, I move me!" A little boy began to scream and cry, kicking his mother till she gave up, and placed him on the floor. With out one look back she just left him there, sitting, screaming, and crying for his mom that may never come back. "Mama, where are you?"

"Emer, aren't you going to help that little boy?" Valens just stood staring impatiently, his eyes kept trying to look foreword, but they always ended on the sad boy. "I'm going to go help him. After all I know his mom." No matter how hard he tried, children will always be his candy at the candy store. "Hello, aren't you my hero?"

"Valens!" The little boy jumped onto Valens. Instead of throwing him off like Emer thought he would, he spun him around like a bird. Emer was never this confused in her entire life. Why is this little boy getting more attention then her, he isn't even his, she is, so why is he loving him more. Her mind scattered, but she was learning how to control herself. Instead of running, or locking herself away, she decided she would go look at the flowers behind the two. "So, my little hero, what happened with your mother today?"

"I got mad, she doesn't take me anywhere I want to go. I wanted to go look at the animals but she wouldn't let me."

"Well, what did I tell you last time?" Valens placed the boy down and got on his knees, looking strait in his eyes, he waited.

"Do as mama says, because I never know when shes going to beat my butt?"

"That's a better way of putting it." Placing his hands on his knees, Valens stands up and takes the biggest breath he could, to relieve his stressed out mind. "Now that, that's out of the way, go home. You remember the way, don't ya?" The boy nodded before he ran as fast as his feet could take him, all the way home.

"Can I see animals?" Emer asked with angel eyes.

"Sure why not. It will be your first lesson for the day."

Walking, Emer seemed much more gleeful then before. She was dancing and hopping all about the, now, colorful streets. Flowers were finally in bloom and the gray sky was now more then one shade of blue. They walked past the carriages filled with sweating horses. This feeling of joy was different from what Emer has ever felt. She had never felt joy from her parents, she has always felt trapped, unable to save her family from being tortured from angry men, masters.

"Emer why don't we go into here? This place must have clothes for you."

"No way! This place looks so cool, what's it called?"

"Its called..." He paused. "I actually don't know whats it called." They laughed walking in to the heated up room. Toys lined every wall, if you wanted clothes you would have to go to the back and dig through the trash can. This place was for her, for her to get what she wants, for her to be a kid.

"Excuse me but you can't bring pets in her."

"I don't have a pet."

"Yes you do, the thing is right there." The young man showed his hand that once was in he coat pocket, pointing it at the little girl next to Valens. "If you don't get rid of your pet, I'll have to use force." Valens didn't want to, but he had to. He bowed his head grabbing Emer's arm and walking out.

"They don't deserve my money anyway. If they can't love you, than I can't love them. No freedom, no money, that's what I say. Lets go somewhere else, are you okay with that Emer?" Emer nodded, but Valens could see the disappointment in her eyes, no matter where she went she was always going to be a cursed slave.

Emer's amazing day came to an end with nothing but sorrow. Not only did she get kicked out of almost all the stores, but the ones she was allowed in only sold things like dog collars and chains. They all kept trying to fit her in things meant for an animal. Out of all of this the worst thing that happened was she wasn't even allowed into the zoo. "People like her deserve to be in a kennel at the black market, not a zoo. She is nothing but a stupid mutt." If this was life, she didn't want to be in it anymore. Shes already almost five and she wants nothing to do with this godforsaken world. If Valens was going to change anything, he would have to change her mind first.
