2 weeks later
It was the week of homecoming when Delaney rolled in on Monday morning. She had a cheer competition and dance competition over the weekend. Once she was inside the school she was at her locker when over the intercom they all heard
"Attention all athletes are to report to the auditorium immediately. Again All athletes cheerleaders football players etc. " the guidance counselor Daisy said
They all started to make their way to the auditorium. Nick Fury said "Sit down all of you.."
They all sat down Fury said "I had to deal with alot this weekend being the athletic director I had to be at the cheer comp and dance comp. And I'm very disappointed in some of you. " he began his speech.
"There is a rule that every football player is to be in attendance at the girls' competitions same goes for the basketball teams. It has been brought to my attention that some of you left after the cheer competition and even some of the cheerleaders left that aren't part of the dance team which is highly disrepectful to your team mates. And the reason why I know this is because I watched 4 of you leave and it's these four Ashton Taylor, Francesca Thomas, Aiden Taylor and Colton Brummett. Along with these Jackson Parker Talia Montgomery Lindsey Balish Cole Baker it's a pretty long list should I keep going or better yet how about this I need all my 2nd string Varsity players and the players that were not at the party Saturday night to stand up here." Fury said
"Now I need my dancers and my cheerleaders that were not at the party Saturday." Fury said
He stopped at Delaney "You are the captain Ms Cooper what do you suggest we do with the remaining cheerleaders in the auditiorum seats. " Fury said
"No uniform on Friday no cheering at the game" she said
"Good now Coach Jones..who is your 2nd string quarterback." Fury said
"Um that would be J. Barnes." Coach Jones said
"You have him playing two different positions.." Fury said
"He is also my first string wide receiver. He was my quarterback for the JV team last year he was the quarterback in middle school. I had to put him somewhere because Mr Taylor refused to play any other position but quarterback." Coach Jones said
Fury walked to Bucky "Come with me for just a minute." Fury said and they stepped outside "Do you think that you can handle leading the team James? I know that you already have alot on your plate but I can let you stay at wide reciever and let a sophomore play quarterback."
"I'm good I can do it.." he said
"You sure? I understand that you have a job and I know your daddy son I know his health isn't the greatest." Nick said
"Yeah football is the one thing I have besides basketball that I can zone out and forget about the world for a little awhile." Bucky said
"Okay.." he said then they went back inside and back up to the stage.
"For the remainder of the season J. Barnes will be the new team captain and new quarterback. ' Fury said
"What?' Aiden said
"You heard me..you were already teetering on probation Mr Taylor you have been benched the remainder of the season as well as everyone that left the competition to come back here to party. And to think you would disrespect your girlfriend like that Aiden. She's the cheer and dance captain." Fury said
"Fury.." Delaney said
"Yes Ms Cooper." Nick said
".I will need the JV cheer team to replace some of the girls that will be sitting out on Friday night." she said
"I will allow that..this is a warning for the rest of you unless you have personally came to me and discussed a personal issue on why you can't come to support the girls at the competitions you stay till it's over." Fury said
"So both Barnes' gets away with not being there." Aiden said
"Both J Barnes and his brother both have discussed a personal issue with me along with their parents and Coach Jones on why they can't be there so shut your mouth Taylor or I will pull you off basketball season as well." Fury said
Aiden shook his head "So freaking stupid you are gonna lose." Aiden said
"You don't know that..I have faith that the boys will be just fine without you and the rest of you hooligans for the rest of the season. And when a college calls me I'll be sure to let them know why they can't come see you play now." Fury said
Their coaches gave them notes to get to class since they were late for 1st period. "Aiden.." Delaney said
He turned around "I'm sorry baby.." he said
"Yeah.." she said then she walked away to go to class.
The day of the game she was in the athlete hallway she found Natasha. "Natasha..do you know who J Barnes is.." she said
"Yeah..he's right there walking in the door." Nat said
"Oh..the boy from the auto shop.." she said
She walked over to him as he put his stuff in his locker "Um James.." she said
"Yeah.." he said
"Um do you know what you want to say at the pep rally.." She said
"I rather not make a big thing about it Delaney. That's not really me I don't really like to draw attention to myself like Aiden does " he said
"Oh.." she said
"I didn't mean that in a bad way it's just I'm not big on the whole pep rally thing..so maybe you girls could just do another routine or something." he said as he shut his locker and walked away.
She swallowed hard then she went to the front office "Mr Coulson.." she said
"Yes Ms Cooper." Phil said
"Cancel the pep rally.." she said then she went to her home room.
That afternoon they never called anyone down for the pep rally she was at her locker putting "Go Celtics" on her cheek.
"Delaney.." Bucky said
"Yeah.." she said as she turned around.
"James.." she said
"Did you cancel the pep rally?' he said
"I did..um it's fine I just it's not something that I do on a whim it takes weeks of planning the pep rally routines I can't just make up one on the spot and without a rehearsal." she said then she went back to fixing her face paint.
That night Delaney had Aiden escort her on the homecoming court where she won Homecoming Princess for the Junior Class. The boys proved that they didn't need Aiden and his friends to win the game. James was on his feet the whole time he was beyond proud of his boys for stepping up the way that they did.
They won their game after the game was over. After the game was over she went to the party and got really drunk and passed out in her car. She and Aiden had been fighting all week so she didn't want to be around him.
