Grizz (POV)
(warning self harm)When Luke stopped the car back at Allies I opened the the door quickly getting out and shutting it. I didn't want to be in there any longer then I did before. That was probably the most miserable car ride I've had in a long time.
I walked up the steps leading to the front of the house. The door was already unlocked so I let myself in. Luke was following right behind me not saying anything. Once I got inside, the whole mood had changed rapidly. I saw Allie along with Will, Clark, Jason, Gordie, and Helena sitting at the table in the kitchen. Sam and Becca weren't there because they were taking care of their baby.
Not seeing Sam here knowing he's now a father hurt me. But then again if he was here knowing he was now a father would hurt me even more. Allie broke the silence before I could think anymore.
"Luke. Grizz. Glad you could join us." She said as she held a cup of tea in her hand.
"Yeah of course what's up?" Luke asked.
I walked over to the table and sat down in the empty seat next to Clark.
"Well if you couldn't tell it's starting to get colder outside. Winters in New Ham have been freezing in the past, but we always had someone else to take care of us." Allie continued. "Now since there's no one else here besides all of us, were going to have to figure out a way to keep things together. No one knows how long we might be here. So if we get it figured out now, then we won't have to worry about all of this if we have to do it again next year."
"Hold on, so your saying we might be here till next year? I thought Gordie was making a breakthrough on going home." Luke responded.
Gordie spoke up. "We through we found something that would help us understand why we're here. Instead it just led us to another dead end. We didn't want to tell anyone yet because it might get chaotic and right now that's the last thing we need. Everyone in this room are the only ones that know about this. That being said no one repeats what I just said."
Allie contributed to the conversation again. "We're going to need to in force the rules a little more for the time being. We don't want people breaking in and stealing all the food or warm clothes. We can distribute it equally among people when they need it."
I finally decided to speak up after staying quit. "Me and the guys can stay on watch longer. Make sure that no one is trying to steal anything from the stores. That sound good to everyone?" Luke,Clark, and Jason all nodded their heads.
Allie gave me a small smile mouthing the words 'thank you'. All I did was nod my head back.
After the whole talk everyone stayed at the house and helped make dinner. It was getting late and Will decided he wanted to cook for all of us as a favor. There was a lot of food to cook so I asked if I could help out in the kitchen. Behind all the clashing of pots and the crackle of food on the stove I could hear everyone else in the living room watching some sort of comedic movie. It made me smile a bit knowing that at least my friends were happy.
"I didn't know you could cook." Will said breaking my train of thought.
"I wouldn't say I can cook but I like to help out whenever I can."
"That's very kind of you Grizz, but, you know your supposed to put some kind of oil on the pan when cooking meet right?"
I was confused at his comment at first but then when I looked down; realized the meet that I was cooking on the stove was completely black. I tried to flip it to the other side but it was stuck to the bottom of the pan. All Will could do was laugh as I frantically tried to get the meet unstuck. Will budged in and took the pan from me and the tongs.
"Ok how about I cook the meet so you don't accidentally burn the house down; while you chop up some tomatoes and onions for the salad." Well said handing me a bag with the ingredients.
I chuckled to myself and took them from him. "Yeah, that's probubly a good idea." I walked over to the kitchen island and placed down a cutting bored with the bag of vegetables. I reached over to the knife holder and grabbed the sharpest one I could find. As I help it in my hand I couldn't help but examine how sharp the utensil was. It shined slightly under the dim light and felt so heavy in my hand. I brought it back over to the bored and starting slicing the tomatoes. I watched as the knife smoothly went through the fruit like a peace of cake.
Suddenly there was a big irruption of laugher coming from the other room. The noise startled me and the knife cut right across my hand. I let out a hiss and watched as the blood started pooling out. There was a slight sting to the area but it felt good. As I continued looking at my hand Will turned around to ask me a question and got a glimpse of the blood.
"Dude what the hell happened are you ok!?" He said running over and grabbing my hand.
"Yeah no I'm fine I just cut my hand a little."
"A little? It looks like you just sliced your hand open."
"No I'll be fine, I can just go to the bathroom and clean it up a bit." I said back taking my hand out of his grasp.
"You sure? I can help if you want. It looks pretty bad." Will said.
"It's all good I got it." I said with a smile back and walked towards the restroom. When I got into the bathroom closed the door behind me and locked it. I ran my hand under the water and watched and the clear red liquid went down the drain. I dried off my hand when I didn't see as much blood and found some wrap under the sink. Once I finished cleaning up my hand, I went back to thinking about how good the sting felt. Most people would would think the complete opposite but then again I'm not like most people. I stared at my face in the mirror seeing the dark circles under my eyes. Shit I look bad.
I went to go unlock the door but then I felt the stinging from my hand again. It felt like a nice relief. Something that let me know that I was still alive. But it wasn't enough for me. I calmly took a deep breath and went back over to the sink. I know I shouldn't be doing this again but I can't stop myself. I reached into my jacket pocket and took out a small razor blade. I slide up my sleeves and slowly brought my hand down the my wrist. I could see all the other scars scattered along my arms, some old and white, and some pink and new. I pressed the blade down and slid it across my forearm. I watched as little dots of blood prickled out of my wrist and on the the counter top. I made one, two, three more cuts before I heard s knock at the door.
"Grizz everything good in there?" It was Wills voice coming from the other side.
I quickly put the blade back in my pocket and turned on the water to rinse off the blood. "Yeah everything fine, I just was trying to find something to wrap my hand with." I yelled back.
"You sure I can't help you with anything? That gash looked pretty gnarly."
"No, no I'm good I'm coming out in a sec." I turned off the water and pulled my sleeve back down. I unlocked the door and saw Will standing on the other side. He had a confused look on his face. To break the awkwardness of the situation I walked over to the table and sat down.
"So, is the food ready? I'm starving."
