⊱ ───── { Jeno } ───── ⊰

"Jisung!" Jeno bellows as he swings his bedroom door open.

The door flies violently into the wall, crashing into it with a harsh BANG.

"What?" Jisung peeks his head out of the room across from his with a faint look of irritation on his face.

"If I wanted to contact Mark and Donghyuck, how would I go about that?" Jeno bats his eyes innocently as if he didn't just wake his best friend up from his cat nap.

"How the hell should I know?" Jisung rolls his eyes, "Go ask Chenle. He's an angel. I'm not."

"Haven't you tried summoning Chenle before?" Jeno raises an eyebrow.

"No. He's usually with me," Jisung explains, "There's only been a handful of times when he isn't. Like right now he said he wasn't tired, so I'm trying to take a nap."

"Without him?"

"Yes. That was implied."

"Oh. I see."

Jisung narrows his eyes suspiciously at Jeno. The younger faintly clears his throat, attempting to smile back at Jisung. The tall boy then shakes his head in dismissal before he trudges back into his room and leaves Jeno standing in his doorway, his smile faltering.

Despite having no solid proof, Jeno still felt uncertain of if he could trust Chenle. He could never tell Jisung that, but it was true, nonetheless.

Perhaps he could ask Jaem-no. No that was a bad idea. He shouldn't bother him just yet. He would have far too many questions for him: none of which he could confidently answer.

Jeno lets out a deep sigh and exits his room. If he couldn't make progress trying to summon Mark and Hyuck, he could at least make some green tea to calm his nerves.

Jeno descends the staircase sluggishly. He comes to a halt upon reaching the doorway into the living room. He spots Chenle rushing from the kitchen, wiping his hands on his sweatpants feverishly. Their eyes lock and Chenle stops dead in his tracks. He shoves his hands in his pockets and nods to Jeno.

"You uh...have some blood on your chin," Jeno points out, and Chenle's hand flies up to his face.

"What?" he exclaims, "I...I must've missed a spot when I was trying to wash my face off."

Jeno nods his head slowly as he maintains eye contact with the beautiful, sweet-looking male. He appears to be the type who's unable to so much as hurt a fly, but the questions still linger in Jeno's head. Why was there blood on him, and where did it come from if there are no visible wounds on his face?

"Who's blood is it?" Jeno asks calmly.

"Mine," Chenle responds promptly, "I had a terrible bloody nose while you and Jisung were sleeping."

"Bloody nose? What caused it?" Jeno questions, wondering what could possibly cause an angel to have a bloody nose unless from some sort of blunt force trauma.

"I think the heat that Jisung gives off has gotten to me. Demons always tend to be much...much hotter than other creatures," Chenle playfully grins at his own remark.

Was he not taking the situation seriously? Wouldn't a normal person be wondering what all the interrogation was for? Surely if Jeno was in his place, he'd be terribly offended that Chenle was asking questions which indicates that he thinks he was causing physical harm to another being. Granted, Jeno wasn't technically an angel, so he is fully capable of doing such an act, but Chenle is supposed to be a full-blooded angel. Was he not the least bit bothered by the idea of being indirectly accused of some sort of assault or battery?

Or maybe his paranoia was getting to him.

Perhaps he was looking far too deeply into Chenle's actions. Maybe he was just making light of the situation because he is telling the truth, and he just wants to bring a little humor to the forefront to make things deescalate. Still, his current mannerisms vaguely discomfort Jeno in a way he can't quite put his finger on.

"Yeah...uh...alright," Jeno brushes him off, "Anyway, do you know how I could contact Mark and Donghyuck?"

Chenle's brow furrows as his smirk slowly morphs into a more serious expression.

"Hard to say. I don't have any personal connection to them which would allow me to ask," he eyes Jeno, "Why?"

"I...uh...I've been meaning to figure out what they've been up to," Jeno coolly crosses his arms over his chest and shrugs as if just making light conversation.

"Is that so?" Chenle inquires, "Because you didn't seem so eager to find out when they were here last time."

"I was in a bad place in a bad situation with Jaemin," Jeno insists, "I reacted terribly to their presence, and they deserve an apology."

"Are you not still in a 'bad place'?" the blond male cocks his head slightly, "With Jaemin?"

"How my relationship with Jaemin is going does not reflect back on the fact I understand that what I did was rude," Jeno's body stiffens up.

"I suppose you're right. Just...make sure you actually apologize to them properly," Chenle advises before promptly walking past Jeno and into the hall.

As his light footsteps ascend the stairs, Jeno lets out a deep exhale of relief. He just barely managed to keep his trip to see Jaemin under wraps. He did not know how Chenle would react either way to finding out whether or not they were okay, but Jeno did not want to take that risk. Not when Jaemin was on the line. No one can know what's going on. Not even Mark and Donghyuck, despite his need for their assistance.

Should he tell them the whole truth, they could report his recent activities to Taeyong, and that would surely end horribly for him. If he were to tell Jisung, he would most certainly take Chenle's side over Jeno's. If he tells Jaemin, he would...well...Jeno didn't exactly know how he would truly react, and that's what terrifies him the most. If he was naïve enough to believe he could help change him, Jeno would most certainly just lead him down a path of heartbreak and pain, but if he realizes there's no changing who he is, then there's no doubt in Jeno's mind that Jaemin would leave him and never return.

What angel could love someone as depraved and malicious as himself?

After all, he is the son of the devil.
