CHAPTER FOUR - TO THE ORPHANAGE

[JUNE 20,2019]
KIM TAEHYUNG secretly followed Joohyun as she went to the orphanage. The orphanage was just a few blocks away from the convenience store so she didn't mind walking.
Joohyun would sometimes drop her bags and pause for a minute because of the heaviness of the bags.
Taehyung would laugh secretly whenever Joohyun groans at the dropped bags.
Being sincere, he ran up to her when one of the toys fell from the bag.
"Hey, Joohyun!" Taehyung called and she turned to him.
"See? I knew you were following me!" She said as if she won the lottery.
"You could've just helped me earlier when the bags dropped! I knew you were laughing like a jerk earlier when one of the bags fell and I groaned." Taehyung laughed.
"I'm sorry." He said and took the bags from her.
"So you saw me following you?"
"You're too obvious," And they started walking.
"By the way, where are you heading to?" Taehyung asked all of a sudden.
"At the orphanage."
"Woah, so you're going to donate these?" Joohyun nodded.
"Yes, I think of donating these because I don't use them anyways," she paused
"Thus, the kids would be very happy to have new toys. Oh, we're here!" She happily smiled.
They entered the orphanage and the kids were very surprised to see them.
"Unnie Joohyun!" The kids shouted as they ran and hugged Joohyun.
"You do really miss me, aren't you?" They nodded as an answer.
"Look! Me and," She paused thinking what to call Taehyung, "Oppa Taehyung brought these toys for you!" Joohyun smiled and showed the kids their toys.
Taehyung is leaning at the wall and was enjoying the sight of Joohyun playing with the kids.
"Hey! Come here!" Joohyun said and gestured Taehyung to come to them.
Taehyung ran and was surprised when one of the kids hugged him.
"Oppa Taehyung! I've missed you!" The kid with pigtails shouted as she hugged Taehyung.
Taehyung hugged her back making Joohyun shocked.
He smiled, "I miss you too, Yuna."
Yuna ran back to the kids and played with her doll.
Joohyun went to Taehyung as they sat at one of the benches.
"How did Yuna know you?" Joohyun asked.
"Yuna was my neighbor back when I was in Daegu. Everyone knew she's adopted so that's why no one wants to be friends with her," he paused.
"Once, I saw her getting bullied so I came up to her and defended her that's how we became friends."
For a moment, Joohyun thought that Taehyung wasn't too bad like what the rumors would say.
"Oh, then why is she here?" Joohyun asked.
"Her adoptive parents left her again. So when I knew they left her here, I moved back to Gyeongbaek so that I can visit her." He said and showed his boxy smile.
"Ah, so Gyeongbaek was really your hometown? I thought you're from Daegu."
"Yes, I was born here. I also remembered when my Mom goes to work she would drop me here and I'll play with this kid called Baechu."
Joohyun was shocked when she heard this.
Wait, Baechu was my nickname when I was a kid! Is he supposed to be Taetae? She thought.
He sighed, "I like Baechu. Well, who wouldn't? She was very kind and she would give me some of my favorite biscuits back then,"
"What happened next?" Joohyun asked but inside she was laughing.
How could Taehyung not recognize her?
"We lost contact. After I turned 7, she never came back here. Once, I wished that I never turned 7 so that I could still play with her. So I moved on and forget everything about her,"
Taehyung laughed, "I look so funny right-"
He didn't finish his words when Joohyun hugged her.
He was surprised but hugged her back, not minding why he hugged her.
"You punk! I knew you liked me back then!" Taehyung was shocked when Joohyun started hitting him.
"Wait, what are you saying? I liked you?" Taehyung asked in confusion.
Joohyun groaned, "How could you forget your childhood friend slash puppy love, Taetae?"
That's when Taehyung's brain started functioning.
"Wait, Baechu's the only one who calls me Tae-" He stopped.
"You're Baechu?!" He shrieked and Joohyun laughed.
"Yes, I am the one who spilled ice cream on your favorite shirt!" She exclaimed.
Taehyung hugged her suddenly and kissed her forehead. Joohyun was surprised by his sudden actions but liked it.
Taehyung escaped from the hug and held her hands.
"I never thought we would cross paths again!"
"But why did you leave?" He asked and Joohyun's face suddenly became dull.
"My mother died, so my dad and I moved to Daegu. I came back here ever since dad died. I'm sorry if I left without telling you." Joohyun said sadly as she stared at the ground.
Taehyung stood up and handed Joohyun his hand.
"I'm so sorry for your loss. But hey cheer up! At least we reunited again!" Joohyun's face glowed and smiled.
She stood up and took Taehyung's hand.
"How about we play again like how we played when we're still kids?" Taehyung asked and Joohyun nodded.
The two of them ran to the kids while holding each other's hands.
