CHAPTER THIRTEEN - FALSE HOPES

. . .

[ JULY 15, 2019 ]

The sky was tar-black. Heavy droplets of water came pouring down Gyeongbaek. Large pillows of cloud were forming, staining out the old-gold color of the sun. Pitter patters could be heard everywhere. People ran for cover outside and different colors of umbrellas were opened as the rain gets heavier each second.

Joohyun had woken earlier that morning - the night after her call with Taeyong about what she stumbled upon - to meet the latter and talk about a few matters.

They have decided to talk to a small café down the road. Just a few blocks away from Taehyung's apartment.

A soft ding coming from doorbell that could be heard all over the place as Joohyun went inside. She left her umbrella on the umbrella holder near the door.

She was welcomed by the warm atmosphere of the café, forgetting about the heavy rain outside. The smell of coffee brushed her tiny nose as her mouth watered by the presence of a chocolate cake on the counter.

Her dainty eyes roamed the place, only to see a brown-haired guy sitting at the farthest corner of the café, eyes on the phone.

A sweet smile formed on her lips to the sight of her long-time best friend.

"Taeyong!" She called out to him.

"Joohyun!" He called back as he stood and hugged her petite body.

"How are you, Joo?" Taeyong asked all of a sudden as they sat.

"I can't tell. Should I be happy because we saw each other?" Joohyun answered as she took the menu from the waitress.

"Or be sad because of what I have stumbled upon?" She added, eyes still on the menu.

"You got a point there," he mumbled, sipping from his iced americano, "As for me, I am very much happy with Jennie."

"We got to spend time with each other often."

"Good for you. By the way, I took a pic of the jacket we were talking about last night."

Joohyun took her phone from her bag, gave a small swipe and handed the gadget to Taeyong.

"It really looks identical. Look, it looks highly expensive!" Taeyong exclaimed after Joohyun gave her order.
