CHAPTER FIVE - THE REPLACEMENT

. . .

[JUNE 25, 2019]

IT'S TUESDAY and the student council officers got some work to do. Wherein they need to find a new secretary, replacing Lee Sooyoung.

Speaking of Lee Sooyoung, the police already caught the criminal and it's confirmed, that the killer is a vampire.

But Joohyun thinks that something is not right when the police arrested the criminal. When the police arrested him at the convenience store where she and Taehyung met last Friday, the killer was found eating kimchi with garlic.

If he really did kill Lee Sooyoung, he wouldn't even think of eating garlic since his vampire abilities came back. Everyone knows that garlic can kill vampires, but the police might not notice what he ate and arrested him immediately. Only Joohyun noticed the fact that he ate garlic which is meant to kill vampires.

"Hey, Taeyong." She called out to the 'sleeping' guy.

"Hmm?" He replied and opened his eyes.

"I think the police arrested the wrong person." She murmured enough for him to hear.

He knew she was referring to the criminal who killed Lee Sooyoung because that was the only crime that ever happened in Gyeongbaek for the past decade.

"Yeah, I think so too. When they arrested him at the convenience store, it is clearly shown that he was eating kimchi with garlic," Taeyong paused and sat at the couch.

"But why did he not fight back? I mean there is a possibility that he really is the killer but it is clearly shown that he was eating garlic. Garlic kills vampires!" he exclaimed.

"Unless," Joohyun paused.

"Unless what?"

"Unless he drank Caistophis," She continued.

"Ah, you mean the medicine that vampires drink before and after eating garlic?"

"Exactly! But something is still lingering in my mind." She gushed making Taeyong look at her questionably.

"And what is it?"

"I nearly forgot that he was wearing a cross necklace." She said, her voice implying she was scared.

The symbol of the cross, once worn or shown directly to a vampire, traditional or not, would kill them instantly.

"Do you have any guess on who's going to be the new secretary?" Joohyun asked Taeyong as they turned right.

"I'm not sure, but I kind of eavesdropped while the teachers are having a meeting," he stopped from walking and tied his black converse.

Joohyun also stopped walking and turned to Taeyong.

"I heard that Kim Jennie might replace Lee Sooyoung." He said and stood up.

Joohyun smiled after hearing her so-called "rival's" name.

"And why are you smiling? Ah, don't tell me you like Jennie?" Joohyun teased the blushing guy.

"Ah, Joohyun stop it! I don't like her!" Taeyong screamed.

"Hmm? Pfft, let's continue walking we're already late for the meeting." Joohyun reassured.

Joohyun and Taeyong opened the door of the meeting room and was greeted by other officers and her.

Kim Jennie, her so-called "rival" is sitting on one of the velvety chairs with the other officers, looking at her smiling more like smirking.

Joohyun wasn't surprised to see her. A mayor's daughter can do everything she likes, right?

"Oh, there you are! I would like you to meet our new secretary. I suppose you have met, right?" The principal asked and Joohyun nodded.

Joohyun and Taeyong went to their respective seats. Joohyun's seat and Jennie's seat are across to each other making them stare into each other's eyes.

"So shall we start the meeting?" the principal asked and everyone nodded.

"So we all know that the school's 50th anniversary is coming, there are tons of themes for the upcoming anniversary to choose and the school heads are arguing whether the theme is modern or old-schooled"

Jennie stood up and faced everyone.

"I suggest that the modern style is better because it's a trend nowadays, no one wants an old-schooled theme anymore." she smiled looking at Joohyun.

Joohyun stood up.

"Just because of the modern style is the trend nowadays, that doesn't mean that we should follow it. People want something new and refreshing," she paused.

"I've done some researches and 65% of the students here has chosen the old-schooled theme than modern. It simply shows that people here want something unique than something on trend." Joohyun said emphasizing the last word.

Other officers agreed with Joohyun's suggestion making Jennie's blood boil.

The principal smiled, "So it's settled? Old-schooled theme it is."

Joohyun also smiled, looking at Jennie who's face can't be painted.

She had met her match.
