Alex's POV

We've been dating three years now and I knew she was the one from the very beginning. I'm honestly kind of nervous but today is the day I'm going to ask Norma Calhoun to marry me.

A sharp high pitch ringing awoke me from my reverie.

Alex: "Hello?"

Norma: "Hey Hun! Do you wanna hang out today? I miss you alot"

Alex: "Actually I was about to come pick you if thats ok"

Norma: "Yeah! I'll be outside when you get here"

Alex: "Ok I'll be there in 10"

Norma: "H.H...Hey Alex?"

Alex: "Yeah love?"

Norma: "I..I....I love you."

Alex: "I love you to honey! I'm on my way"

10 minutes later......

I pulled up to an old ragged house down an old beaten dirt road. Thats when I saw her sitting on the porch step. She was wearing her favorite dress. The one she always felt confident in it's also the one she wore when i first met her.

I parked my truck got out and walked to her."Hello beautiful" I said reaching my hand out for her. She grabbed my hand and in one swift motion I pulled her up into my arms bridal style. She squealed as I kissed her nose. "What are we doing today?" She asked as she laid her head on my shoulder. "We're going out in to the country for a picnic." I said sitting her down in the truck. She kissed my cheek and whispered "Thank you honey".  I was just about to close the door when I saw bruises on her tiny arms. I gently touched one and she winced . "Honey did your dad do this to you?" I asked when I noticed she was starting to cry. She managed to whimper out "Yes".
"When did he do this?" I asked

"Last night. He got mad because dinner wasn't finished when he got home." She said

"I'm sorry I wasn't here to protect you" I said shamefully.

"Alex it's not your fault you didn't know" she said softly touching my cheek.

"Norma?" I said
"Hmm" she said looking at me.
"Do you want to move in with me? I know your scared of what your dad will say but I just want you to be safe." I said holding her face in my hands.
"Yes please I want to get away from here" she said crying throwing her self at me.
I held her in my arms while whispering sweet things in her ear.
"Lets go to our picnic and when we're done we'll pick your things up ok?" I said running my fingers through her golden locks of hair. She whispered "ok" back to me before we were off to the countryside.

One hour later.....

"Alex this is beautiful" she said laying into my shoulder . "Not as beautiful as you my love" I said kissing her head.
"Come with me I want to show you something." I said getting up. Of course I was nervous but who wouldn't be when they're about to ask the love of their life to marry them. I took her out into the field where there was a big willow tree. I stood in front of her and took both of her hands while she stared at me . "Norma since our date I've loved you with all my heart. Your blue eyes melt my heart and the way you always take care of people before yourself always amazes me. Your everything I've always wanted and everything I need.  I want to take care of you for the rest of my life. I want to have kids with you and watch them grow up with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." She was crying as I got down on one knee and asked "Will you marry me?"
She whimpered "Yes" as I placed the ring on her finger and stood up I picked her up and spun her around in my arms. She put her hands on my face and kissed my lips to softly. She whispered "I love you". I let her down and held her hand as we walked back to the truck. She looked at me and whispered "That was our first kiss" smiling. I looked at her and smiled.

Later that day we went by and packed all of her clothes and packed up her room and put all the boxes in the bed if my truck. While I was putting boxes in the truck a runned down car pulled up and I instantly tensed up. An old man who looked to be in his sixties got out. "Who the hell are you?" He asked . "Alex Romero" I turned around. "What are you doing here?" He asked becoming angry. I quickly answer "Helping my girlfriend move out." I said . He looked at me angrily and said "Norma Louise?". I said "Yes sir and I saw what you did to her to she has decided to live with me and you can't stop her because she's a twenty-two year old adult. So if you'll excuse me I need to go help Norma" I said walking around him. I ran straight to Normas room to see her walking out with the last box. I grabbed the box and told her to stay near me because her dad was here. She gave me a scared nod and held my hand. We walked out to find her dad sitting on the porch swing . Norma let go if my hand and ran to my truck. I put the last box in the back of the truck and got in next to Norma and drove off while holding her hand while she fell alsleep on my shoulder.
