Hi. Thank you for reading. Aftermath is a fanfiction based on the world and characters of the game Until Dawn. This chapter will inform you about the background of the story as well as some warnings. I do encourage you to read it, as this background information will be important in later parts of the story :)

(Quick disclaimer: This is a work of fiction--specifically fanfiction. I did not create and nor do I own any of the characters, locations, or items mentioned in the story. All credit goes to the original creators of the game Until Dawn. This fanfiction is meant to be a continuation of the story after one of the possible endings of the game. Some aspects of the original game storyline may be altered for this new story.)

The story will contain major spoilers for the game Until Dawn. If you have not played the game or wish to find out the story for yourself—stop reading. Everything underneath this paragraph will spoil the story for you.

The story will contain swearing, descriptions of gore, murder, suicidal thoughts and other forms of language that may be "triggering" for some audiences. So if you do not feel comfortable reading about any of the things mentioned above—stop reading.

However, if you've made it this far—below is some background information that you will need to know before reading Aftermath.

Aftermath is set in the same world, one year after the incident in the game Until Dawn (also two years after Hannah and Beth's disappearances). As you all know, the outcomes of the game itself depend entirely on the player's choices, so there are multiple possibilities. For this story, I chose an ending that I felt was easiest to expand on. (Another note: if you are still reading despite not wanting any spoilers—stop here!)

In the scenario I chose for Aftermath, all 8 characters survived. Josh was taken by Hannah, and he was seen half-transformed and eating the head of the Stranger. Hannah and multiple other Wendigos died in the explosion of the lodge, but all the protagonists made it out alive.

In terms of the protagonists' relationships, here are some facts that take place in my story:

⋅ When Ashley saw Emily and Mike in the woods, she chose to let Matt look through the binoculars as well, causing him to be in a foul mood for the next couple scenes of the game. Him and Mike fought in the lodge.

⋅ When told to choose between saving Ashley and saving Josh, Chris chose to save Josh (even though he still "died"). Ashley felt a little betrayed.

⋅ Mike chose to amputate his fingers when they were caught in the bear trap.

⋅ Mike befriended Wolfie and eventually locked the door so Wolfie lived.

⋅ Sam tried to escape unsuccessfully and was captured by the Psycho, later to be found by Mike.

⋅ At the tower, Matt confronted Emily about Mike. Later, he still chose to try and save her twice unsuccessfully. He fell into the mines (and survived) while Emily was "crushed" by the tower. Their relationship was fine as Matt tried his best to save her.

⋅ Chris tried to shoot himself when forced to choose between shooting himself and shooting Ashley, maximizing his relationship with Ashley. Thus, Ashley opened the door for him in Chapter 8.

⋅ Ashley stabbed the Psycho (Josh) with the scissors.

⋅ Emily discovered Beth's head and other clues that allowed her to piece the story together. Emily was bitten by the Wendigo when escaping.

⋅ Mike could not bring himself to shoot Emily, even though he'd pointed the gun at her (zeroing his relationship with both Emily and Matt). Later, Ashley chose to reveal the truth about the non-contagious bite, which led to Emily slapping her (their relationship also zeroed).

⋅ Chris disarmed Mike instead of hitting Josh when they tied Josh up.

⋅ Sam discovered the truth about Hannah in the mines, so Josh recognized her on time and was taken away.

⋅ Matt and Jessica escaped the mines together, alive.

⋅ All the protagonists escaped the burning lodge.

I know this is a lot of information, but it was necessary as all the choices mentioned above affect the characters' relationships towards one another in Aftermath.

Now the story can begin.
Thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate it. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoy writing it.
