Chapter 5: menagerie

The ship's horn blared loudly and the platform was set. They were here. Menagerie. Roaul, Blake and Sun saw the amazing landscape that was in front of them. Even Roaul had to admit, in daytime, this place was beautiful. No wonder Blake lived here. The streets were filled with Faunus of all kinds and only Faunus. Wait a second...ONLY Faunus? Roaul saw that he was going to have some trouble if there were only Faunus in the streets. He quickly hid and took out some metal, carving it into a curved and sharp shape. He put each one on his nails and went back to Blake and Sun.

"If never seen so many Faunus in one place" Sun gasped.

"This is the one place where everyone can feel safe, no matter who or what they are" Blake replied. Roaul then managed to catch up to Blake and Sun. "Where have you been?"

"Disguising myself" Roaul answered, holding up his hand to reveal the makeshift claws he made.

"Why?" Sun asked.

"I only see Faunus here, so I think it would be a good idea to disguise myself as one of them" Roaul said. "I'm pretending to be a panther Faunus"

"Right" Sun nodded. "It sure is crowded isn't it?"

"Yes. Yes it is" Blake then walked off, Sun and Roaul following. It turned out that it really WAS crowded. Faunus invaded almost every part of the street, maybe even the island itself!

"Is it always so...cramped?" Sun asked.

"Well, when you try and take an entire species and put them on an island that's two-thirds desert, Yeah, it tends to get cramped" Blake explained.

"What?!" Sun shouted. "You guys have that much space? Why waste it? A little desert never hurt anyone"

"It's not like the desert in Vacuo, Sun" Blake frowned. "The wildlife here is more dangerous than most other regions"

"So, they gave us an island in the corner of Remnant to try and shut us up" Sun concluded.

"Yep, that's pretty much a good summary" Blake sighed, walking away soon after.

"Well, isn't that just fantastic" Roaul sarcastically grunted.

"Jerks" Sun whispered.

"We've tried to make the best of things" Blake added. When the three got to the top, Roaul and Sun stared in awe as they saw a huge house and a gorgeous view of the nature. "This is Kuo Kuana"

"I'm learning a lot today" Roaul smiled.

"It's...beautiful" Sun gawked like, as Blake would call him, a dork. "I take it all back. This place looks great! Why would anyone wanna leave?"

"That's not the point, Sun" Blake shook her head. "We asked to be equal, to be treated just like everyone else. Instead, we were given an island and told to make do. So we did the best we could. We came together and made a home where any Faunus could feel welcome. But, this island, this town, will be a reminder that we're still not equal. That we're still just second-class citizens"

Sun put a hand on Blake's shoulder an reassured her. "Well, this guy's feeling pretty at home"

"I may be human, but this looks like a great place to live" Roaul agreed. "It kinda reminds me of Mistral. The trees, the forests, and the architecture. It never gets old to me"

"Well, alright" Blake exhaled. "Time to go home"

"Really? Which one? Can you see it from here?" Sun asked.

"Uh, kind of" Blake answered.

"Sun, let her-"

"Is it that one? What about that tiny one down there? I like the paint-job" Sun pointed to all kinds of houses, trying to find the one that Blake lived in. Blake then drifted Sun's hand to the one The was at the very bottom and end of the path. It was as big as a mansion.
