It had been two days since I had talked to Ellen and she still hasn't replied. I thought she might be different from the others, but she is just like the rest of the officers. Leroy and his friends will never be punished, I wondered.
I was lying on the sofa, watching cartoons, when the doorbell rang. Thinking it was mom, I opened the door. It was Ellen. At first I was shocked, but then relieved. I asked her to come in.
"Hey, I want to ask you something," she waited for me to lock the door and continued, "about Leroy. Okay?"
"Yes sure, but would you like to have some coff-"
"Is this the Leroy who raped you?" She showed me a picture on her phone. There were three to four boys including Isaac. This photo was from our trip, and she was pointing at Leroy.
"Yes this is. But why?"
"Halsey do you know about his family? Or father?"
"Uhh no."
"He's Willam's younger son."
I was surprised and speechless. I had no idea how to react. It all made sense now that I knew Leroy was 115's son. Officer 115 is trying to save Leroy and his friends. Tearfully, I looked at Ellen,
"He is never going to the jail, right?" She scooted closer and hugged me.
"Maybe he will." I took a step backward and stared at her intently.
"You're joking right? He has 115 covering for him then-"
"Remember you told me when they were raping you, Isaac passed by you? But he didn't stop," I nodded and she sat down on the sofa and smiled at me, "Well, I talked to him yesterday. Isaac was trying to click pictures of him and Zen's. And he accidentally clicked one that captured your case. Alright? He still has it. Now I have it." Ellen showed me the picture, where amid the darkness, half of my face was still visible. Thanks to the full moon night. There Leroy was, right on top of me, unbuttoning my shirt. And there was Ian and the others, holding my hands and feet.
This brought tears back to my eyes. My mind went back to that day. I could feel his touch; hear their laughter and my own screams. My hands turned cold and started shaking. I stared at the photo for too long.
"Isaac never mentioned about this." I quivered while trying to speak.
"That's because you hate him," I opened my mouth to speak but she put her hand up front, "At least that's what Isaac told me. He told me he tried speaking to you one night, but you were so angry and busy breaking things that you didn't want to talk."
I looked at her in complete silence. I had no idea that Isaac was there to talk about this the other night. He wanted to help, but I misunderstood him this whole time.
"Listen Halsey, Zen and Isaac agreed to be the witnesses. Okay? So don't worry. Leroy is gone now. So is Officer 115."
I was beyond happy, I couldn't believe it was finally happening. I thought the case soon will be closed, and just then the tables turned. While leaving, Ellen promised me that Leroy and his friends will be arrested due the next morning. That night, I called Isaac and apologized for being so harsh. He came over to my house, and spent the night with me. We played Fifa on our laptops and watched a few movies the whole night, just the way we used to when we were kids.
As we woke up, my phone rang. It was Ellen. She called me to inform that Leroy, Ian and three others suspected for the rape case were arrested. What made me even happier was that, Officer 115 was suspended.I asked Isaac to take me to the station. I wanted them to see my cheerful face. Isaac gave me a ride on his bike. The closer we were to the station, the more my curiosity increased. Isaac slowed down the bike and parked a few steps away from the station. He took off his helmet and turned to look at me. He smiled at me and told me not to hit anyone like I did at the food court. We walked in, and found Leroy, Ian and the others inside the bars. Clenching his fist, Leroy looked at me, I smiled. Ellen let me go and talk to Leroy.
"I did cause trouble Leroy..but for you." I whispered.
