"You up?"
"Halsey? Wake up."
"Can you hear me? Get up."

I opened my eyes, and heard a knock at my door. Rubbing my eyes, I got up and opened the door. There was silence for a moment.

"What do you want?" I asked, as politely as I could.
"They are here again..to talk to you," my mom replied pointing to the officers sitting on the sofa.
"You can talk to them, right? And tell them-"
"Tell them what? How miserable my life has become?" my voice was loud enough to grab the officers' attention, "It's been a year, and you still want me to talk about this to them?"

"Lower your voice, Halsey. They're watching," my mom tried to quiet me down, but I had enough of this crap.

"Exactly, all they have been doing is watch. What else has they done till now? Nothing. Even now when I step out of the house, I see them. Walking down the streets. Riding their bikes. Chilling at the cafes. Why? That's not where they should be," I walked passed my mom and in front of the officers, "Do you know where they are supposed to be? In jail. Why do you want to know what happened that night? Why? What will you do?"

I was tired of it. My head started aching. I started walking back to my room.

"Wait." I turned back and found a new lady officer.
"I am Officer Ellen," she spoke in a gentle deep voice, "I am in charge of your case now."
"From when?" I blurted.
"Ahh well, from yesterday?" she gave me a smile, that was too wide compared to her tiny head.
"Will you tell me everything, in details, for one last time? Please?"

After a long time, I felt like opening up.

"Okay, I will. But not today."
"Hey kid, what do you mean not today," officer 115 stood up and gave a sharp look, "Do you know who you talkin-"
"Sure Halsey, whenever you want to."
"But Ellen-"
"It's okay William," she came near me and smiled again, "Halsey, I really would like to take your case seriously. I know what it feels like to be a rape victim. It's not easy."
"Ellen, you were supposed to sort this today."
"Yeah I know, but..it's important for her to feel free and not hesitate."
"Ellen are yo-"
"Let's go officers. Bye Halsey, take care."

While leaving, Officer 115 gave me a hard look. I have seen this man before, he used to come  almost every week with the other officers, right after my mom cased the file. I have never seen him smile, or speak politely to anyone.

As soon as they left, Isaac showed up at our door.
