⌜ chapter six ⌟
"I have to go." Addy says as she tries to get up off of the couch in the two-bedroom apartment that she and her daughter share in Nebraska.
"Hm-m." Dean wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her back to him. He's in town visiting, and he wants to have her with him as much as possible. He doesn't get to see his girls nearly as often as he'd like.
"Dean—"
"No." He kisses on her cheek repeatedly, making her laugh as she lays on his chest. "I'm never letting you go."
"I have to pick up Dana from school." She tells him, but she makes no effort to get up. She misses her husband as much as he misses her, and they hate being apart for any amount of time.
"She's a big girl, she can walk one day."
"It's three miles, Dean." She argues. "That's cruel."
He sighs as he hugs her tighter, rubbing her back as he rests his cheek on the top of her head. "I don't want you to go." His voice is barely a whisper.
"I'll be back before you know it." Addy says as she then pushes herself up. "I love you." She smiles as she kisses his cheek.
"I love you too." A smile spreads across his own face as he loosens his hold on his wife.
Addy sighs as she stares up at the ceiling above her. She and Jo are sharing a cell, and she's on the top bunk.
She misses her husband, the good times and even the bad. At this point, she'd give anything for one more moment with him, even if they're arguing, which wasn't uncommon. If he's standing in front of her and he's yelling, then he's alive. And that's all she wants; she just wants to know that he's out there somewhere — alive.
What difference does it make what he's saying? Anything is better than nothing at all. It's better than missing the only man that she's ever loved. It's better than fearing that he's dead or alone.
She squeezes her eyes shut as she folds her arms over her head. Dreams like those make her feel like she's alone, even though she knows that she's far from it. At least she has her daughter, her mother, her sister, her niece, her nephew, and her best friend. She has this entire group, who she's come to care for more than she thought she would.
But nothing can fill the void in her heart left by the absence of Dean Winchester — her first everything, her husband, the love of her life.
MJ's in her own cell doing anything to keep herself from sleeping. While Addy has happy memories that make her sad to remember, MJ's haunted by her nightmares — the faces of the people who have died because of her.
