Chapter 13

24 hours after the kidnap

Inside the box that was delivered to the SID office, there's a ........

Bloody ear with a bloody note

'This is just the beginning'

Everyone could only gasp at what they're seeing while the Chief went deathly still. Everything seems to stop around Shen Wei. He couldn't process what's going on anymore.

"It might not be the professor's." Chu tries to convince while carrying the passed out Guo in his arms.

"Y-yeah,  we need DNA. We need to compare DNA." Da Qing agrees with Chu and tries to convince the paled chief. "Come on old chief. We need Prof. Zhao's DNA. Do you have anything that might have his DNA here? Chief .... Chief .... Chief Shen, come on, we need DNA sample."

Shen Wei is trying his best to not be too affected and keeping his mind in one piece. "N-no, I don't have anything here. But I have his apartment keys. I'll go get something there." And he walks unsteadily towards the office door but gets stop by Da Qing.

"Let's use my bike, it's faster. And I need my reckless chief alive in one piece so that he can rescue his beloved Zhao Yunlan as soon as we can locate him. Okay, old chief?"

"Yeah, good idea. It's unbelievable that the fat cat can be useful sometimes."

Both goes back to the apartment and retrieve several things that might have Zhao's DNA on it and hurried to the lab for them to test the DNA which will take about an hour but seems like a year to Shen Wei.

When he returns to the office, he is greeted with an unexpected guest: his dad.

"Aren't you going to tell me that my son-in-law is kidnapped?"

Shen Wei is gaping at his dad but no words came out. His mind is in a mess right now. 

First is, why is his dad here?

Second, how did he know that Zhao Yunlan is kidnapped?

Lastly, son-in-law!?!

"So far, what's been happening?" His dad asks as Shen Wei hasn't given him an answer yet.

"We're gathering information on their properties and the route of the black Mercedes but it's quite scattered like it's intentional. And also, they've been sending things to help me lose my mind." Shen Wei explains to his dad.

"So you do know that he's playing with you."

"Yes, dad. And I'm trying my best not to fall for it but it's really hard."

"Well, let's go through what you have again with a clear mind, okay? I need you to get my son-in-law back, otherwise your mom will definitely kill us both."

"WHAT!? By the way, how did you guys know about this?"

"I was having a call with the director on speaker and he mention this when your mom walks in."

"So that's why you're here?"

"Your mom is one reason, but the other is, I have some unfinished business with this bastard."

Shen Wei calls everyone to gather at the office to share and discuss the information together. Before the meeting starts Da Qing is nervously announcing the results from the DNA test.

"T-the ear is not the professor's but the blood is."

"What do you mean?" Shen Wei asks while trying to contain his nervousness.

"At first, the test was done by using the blood on the ear, but it returned 2 different sets of DNAs. So to be sure, the test was redo on a small part of the ear, which the result say that it didn't belong to Prof. Zhao. However, the blood that is used to write the note, all belongs to the professor."
