Chapter Twenty

HARMONY'S POV:

After Sofia left my room last night, I couldn't help but worry what would happen when Adrain finds out. Would this really be our chance to be happy and finally end up together or, would this bring the end of us. I kept tossing and turning due to my lack of sleep. So, I decided to go for a little stroll

I went to the balcony, staring at the beautiful night sky, wondering how my life would be if Adrain was in love with me or, if I would have been happy with someone else.

I didn't even realize when someone came and sat close to me
"I'm sorry Harmony" Adrian said sitting beside me. I remained silent
"Look, I didn't mean to hurt you. You're a good person but, I'm sorry we can't be together. Sofia and I were supposed to get married six years ago. But, her stepfather was against our Union. He kidnapped her on our wedding day. I searched and searched for her until my men finally found her. Sofia means everything to me. Without her, I feel lost and lonely" I could see his love for her Crystal clear in his eyes
"I never meant to hurt you, please forgive me" how was I supposed to tell him that Sofia wants to leave us, so we could be together.

I got up to leave. Sofia was wrong, Adrain has no feelings for me. I should be the one leaving

I woke up the next morning feeling void. I felt more like a zombie . My eyes sore, body weak, and heart broken. I got up to prepare for tonight. I picked out some clothes without really caring how it would look on me.

I was heading down for breakfast when I saw Adrain and Sofia laughing and playing games in his room. I silently went downstairs to have my breakfast. I was still eating when, they came down.

I was happy seeing them together but, I lost my appetite so, I got up to leave without even glancing at them.

SOFIA'S POV:

I watched as Adrain stared at Harmony when she got up to leave. Pain flashing through his eyes. Why, has he chosen to ignore his feelings for her because of me.

I love Adrain with all my heart but, he wasn't mine anymore. He has fallen in love with his wife. As much as it hurts, I believe I have made the right decision by wanting to leave tonight.

He has to stop feeling obligated to love me and realize that within the short span of time they've been married, she has crept her way into his heart.

HARMONY'S POV:

Time flew so quickly and before I knew it, it was evening. I got dressed in a random royal blue gown, didn't bother doing my hair or make up.

I grabbed my keys and other accessories like lip balm and pepper spray. I went downstairs knowing fully well that I wasn't going in the same car as both of them

I went downstairs and saw Sofia already dressed in a red velvet like material, with a slit that went up to the chest. It was quite revealing but I have seen worst. She looked so elegant and sexy while, I look like a blank canvas.

"Wow Harmony, you look so gorgeous" as if, she looked like a goddess.
"Have you seen your self?, You look amazing" which was true.

We we're both still chit chatting when Adrain came down in a black suit, looking like he was going for a competition for the most handsome man. He wore suit all the time but, he looked exceptionally dashing tonight with his hair neatly combed to the side, having that billionaire but bad boy kinda look.

I walked past him into my car. I was about to start my car when he asked me to join them in theirs. With Sofia's unending insistance, I gave in. The ride was kinda awkward and all but who cares?

We arrived at the event. I went straight to the kitchen eating as much food as I possibly can because, later, we would be seated with those high and stuck up rich people who gets full from taking just one spoon of food.

After satisfying my self, I went to sit alone. The night dragged on with different events such as appreciation, speech made by uncle Desmond, Adrain and aunt Taylor.

Next, we went on celebrating Adrain's birthday, and the first dance. I went to the balcony as they had their first dance or so I thought.

"H..harmony, how are you" Ariana came and asked me. I didn't even know she was still in New York. My parents had travelled out for vacation, so I thought she had too.
"I'm good Ariana, what's up?" I asked
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Sofia. My brother went through so much without her, now I don't know what to say. I love you and I still think you're the best wife for him." She held my hands, tears leaking from her eyes.
"It's okay, let's forget about it." We were both still talking when when we heard shouting inside.

Getting inside, we saw Adrain and Sofia having a heated argument.
"What's going on?" The moment I said that, Adrain walked up to me and gave me a tight slap, which made me lose my balance and fell down.
"ADRAIN!!!" Uncle Desmond yelled as Sofia and aunt Taylor ran up to me.
"You're such a low life. Yesterday I shared my pain with you, about how I can't leave without her, yet you convinced her to leave me. How cruel can you be? I hate you for this Harmony and I always will. Ever since you came into my life, there's been nothing but bad luck and misfortune. You're a curse, I hate you" he said glaring at me. The look of hate in his eyes was worse than when we newly met
"Adrain, how dare you hit her? She's your wife and a woman. Have some respect for her" uncle Desmond said
"This bitch doesn't deserve anything. Do you know why I can never love you Harmony? It's because you can never be like Sofia, she's one in a million while, you're just a pain in the ass" Ariana and Lamar tried calming him down. I stood up from the floor numb. I couldn't cry, nor could I say anything. I did the only thing I could and walked away not just from the scene but from Adrian's life forever.
