Sitting beside Lucy, I send her a smile as the morning breeze ruffles my hair. The sound of the crew happily bustling about brings me slight comfort - after yesterday's events, I don't think the crew is in dire need to find land any time soon. And nor am I for that matter, which is oddly surprising. Sighing in content, I gaze at Lucy carefully - eyeing the sewing needle in her hand with caution.
"Why are you sewing?"
My best friend looks up at me with a smile - shrugging ever so slightly without stopping her hand movements.
"I'm putting sleeves on it, so you and I don't get confused. Also because it will keep me warm."
Humming in appreciation, I watch as she continues to sew - her hands working tirelessly among the fabric. Smiling, I gaze about the ship - watching with interest as the crew go about their daily routines. As I watch Tavros explaining something to Rhince, I notice Edmund sitting by himself with his new sword in hand - cleaning it rather profusely. His face is scrunched up in concentration which is rather adorable - a small, wistful sigh escaping my lips unintentionally. Suddenly, laughter catches my attention - my gaze drifting from Edmund to my side, flushing at the sight of Caspian laughing at my expense. I can feel my cheeks increasing in heat, knowing they are glowing a bright red - his laughter not stopping however.
"Stop laughing at me. It's rude."
I mutter, gazing down at my hands - fumbling them together as they are more interesting than my friends right now. I hear Caspian calming himself down, a loud sigh echoing out.
"Oh Sophia, you sweet soul. Why don't you just tell Ed how you feel."
Tilting my head upward, I groan incredulously - I should've known he would begin eventually. After all, Lucy must've told him that I found out he knew - Lucy hardly ever keeps secrets.
"Caspian, I'm going to tell you what I told Lucy and will continue to tell Lucy - its more complicated than that."
He snorts in amusement at this, and I can hear Lucy beginning to protest but before either of them can say anything a loud scream bounces off the ship walls. My eyes snap toward the deck in curiosity, preparing to fight a stowaway - only to see Eustace running out of the kitchen with Reepicheap on his trail. I can hear Lucy and Caspian muttering in confusion which makes me breathe a breath of relief - our conversation forgotten for now. Sitting comfortably, I watch with slight amusement as Eustace tries to run away from Reepicheap - the mouse obviously finding it ironic as well.
"Trying to run away. We're on a boat you know."
With that, the mouse swings on a rope and somehow lands in front of Eustace, causing the boy to stop in his tracks. He jolts slightly, and I can see his face become a little pale as he speaks.
"Look. Can't we just discuss this?"
Either Reepicheap doesn't hear him nor he doesn't care because next thing I know, Reepicheap slashes Eustace's shirt, grabs the orange that was hidden in there and hits him in the face with it. I stifle a laugh as I watch Eustace's eyes become wide, his hand touching the side of his face with a look of disbelief. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see almost the entire crew watching the little argument - a smile on a few of their faces. After all, Eustace has gotten on quite a few of their nerves and are not doubt finding pleasure in his demise. All of a sudden, Eustace swings the kitchen knife that resides in his hand in the direction of Reepicheap. However, the mouse easily dodges it causing Eustace to fall into the barrel the mouse is standing on. This action causes Reepicheap to smile, strangely enough.
"We have our selves a duel. Catch."
Without caring where it lands, Reepicheap throws the orange away from Eustace - and strangely enough, towards us. I yelp in surprise, and duck in order to avoid being slapped in the face by an orange. However, before it can hit anyone, I see Drinian catch the fruit easily - rolling his eyes in slight amusement. I give the captain a grateful smile before glancing back at the duel, only to see the two staring at each other. That is, until Eustace takes the first strike to which Reepicheap easily dodges once again. In fact, every time Eustace makes a move against the mouse, the latter dodges it rather easily. As Eustace misses Reepicheap once again, the mouse yells out some advice.
