Groaning, I blink open my eyes - adjusting to the blinding light that beats down upon me through the overhanging tree leaves. Caspian had ordered us to sleep on land last night, due to the night already upon us, which at the time I had thought to be a brilliant plan. Only now as my back aches from the hard ground filled with sticks and stones that could definitely break bones. Huffing, I sit up awkwardly - wanting to avoid making as mush noise as possible as some crew members are still asleep. I'm slightly jealous, as all I can think about is the looming danger that awaits us in the centre of Dark Island.

"Don't worry, it's not just you."

Jumping slightly at the voice, I snap my head to the side only to see Lucy stretching herself awake - her eyes wide and face filled with worry. I send her a small smile before jumping to my feet - noticing those that were sleeping now stirring to life, meaning we will be heading back to the ship as soon as possible. As though reading my mind, I watch as Caspian and Edmund approaching us from their respective sleeping quarters - both looking as though they are dreading the upcoming events. Not that I blame them, but if they're both fearful what hope do the rest of us have? Standing beside me, Edmund mumbles a soft good morning that causes me to smile - his voiced still slightly croaky from sleeping for such a little time.

"You both ready?"

Caspian's words make me raise an eyebrow, staring at him with disbelief - Lucy babbling on about his rather dumb question which causes the King look around sheepishly. Shaking my head, I let Lucy continue on - knowing it is her way of letting the stress of todays events out, bottling things inside never having been her strong suit. As she does, I gaze over at Edmund who looks to be in deep thought - myself biting my lip in contemplation.

"Sorry about last night. It was inconsiderate of me to suggest such a thing to Caspian without taking your feelings into consideration. You're my best friend, I'm sorry."

The words tumble out of my mouth before I have a chance to think about them - Edmund's face widening in surprise telling me all I need about the stupidity of them. As I go to apologise once again, Edmund begins laughing softly - the smile reaching his eyes as they burn bright with amusement, shocking my ever so slightly.

"You thought I wanted to court Lilliandil? No, Soph, that would be ridiculous. I was just thinking about what you said, how there's nothing to lose if you try. It just made me realise something."

I stare at him in confusion but also curiosity - wondering what he could possibly mean. However, before I can ask him, the crew begin to wander through the trees and back toward the long boats - a sign that today is beginning. Edmund turns on his heel and walks off with Caspian by his side, leaving me standing here awfully confused but trying to bury it away - today is not that day to let my feelings for Edmund get in the way, it could end in disaster.

Sailing on the Dawn Treader, the crew are morbidly quiet - not that I blame them. The island I have come to dread is looming over us, the island covered in a black and rocky substance - which makes it even more evil. As the island gets closer, I myself begin contemplating the worst - no doubt everyone on board doing the same. I notice a few hidden caverns that are alight with a green glow, green mist surrounding everything. It is not a peaceful sight, and I can feel my heartbeat increase the closer we become. The only noise that can be heard for miles are Eustace's wings flapping in the sky - Reepicheap upon his nose whispering something or other. All of a sudden, Tavros stops steering the ship and gazes over his shoulder - looking at us all with wide eyes.

"So, what do you think is in there?"

No one answers him straight away, for no one truly knows the answers - at least not yet anyway. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Edmund glancing at Tavros with a small shrug before sighing - gazing back toward the island in front of us as he answers.
