In three days, I will become Queen of the goddamn underworld. Hades will be my husband. All of my brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles will be coming to the wedding of the century. It will take place when the sun begins to descend into his resting place for the night; behind the trees that lined The Vale of Nysa. All sorts of floral arrangements ranging from Narcissus to roses to dahlias to tulips and peonies.

72 hours until I say I do. A coronation like no other. After that, I will have to spend half my time doing my mother's bidding and the rest of the time falling in love with the prince of darkness. Can't be a king without a queen if you ask me? Rodi taps her foot impatiently in front of me while circling her finger. "Care to explain this, dear sister?"

"I'm getting married. It's a shocker I know. You can't have all the men, Aphrodite. Ares and Hephaestus?! You don't get to judge me. Not on this."

"Persephone! He's our uncle. The man in charge of death and delivering souls to wherever they belong. You can't be serious?"

"Well I am...get over it princess."

Appalled, she returns with "Who stole the sunshine out of your breakfast? Oh wait - I know. Our uncle Hades."

"Seriously Rodi? You can't even fake being happy for me for once in your sorry excuse for a life. Oh look at me - I'm bored, let's mess with my little sister and have all the guys throw themselves at her. Boo-hoo...everyone likes her....but why? She's not even that pretty. That's how insecure you sound."

"How could you grow to love a monster like Hades? He's surrounded by death. You are the goddess of spring and vegetation and harvest. There's monsters down there such as that three headed beast..."

Instinctively, I stop what I am doing and hold my cold-stone gaze on her. My upper lip began to curl as I wanted to strangle my sister. "You mean Cerberus? My three headed furry friend? Aphrodite, do not speak about my children in that manner or ever again. You'd be lucky to survive down in the underworld against the beast. Oh you'd probably be tasty until they realize you're a bitter person. Andronicus, Nyx, and Khaos are my children and I will defend them whatever means necessary." I growl as I get up in her face.

She immediately throws her hands up and says, "I didn't know. How do I know what goes on inside your brain?"

"And as for an answer for you...I'm not in love with him yet, Rodi. I'm already falling though."

"So? You go from living on earth where your flowers can grow...to a kingdom where nothing can grow? I...I just don't understand. Help me understand."

"Darling, everything on your lovely earth withers. He has given me a crown made for the immortal flowers that reside in my bones. And I walked into hell knowing I'd never want to leave. You honestly cannot say that you didn't see this coming." I wickedly smile as I plop down beside her and wait for to say something; but she doesn't. Not one word escapes from her rose colored lips. "And I get power. Control. Freedom. My deepest desires. And he saw me for who I really was and accepted me...well that's not entirely true. He had no choice in the matter. I wasn't going anywhere."

"As long as he makes you happy." finallys responds my oddly quiet sister. We just stared off into the distance at all the wedding arrangements. And I mumble, "He does. I am happy."

And just like that days melted into the nights as the nights blossomed into days. Soon it was my wedding day. Something no one ever thought would happen knowing who my mother was. It is all still a bit shocking. Is she right? Am I making a terrible mistake? Does he make me happy? Yes. Yes he does. Ugh, cold feet.

The longer I spend down here, the more I notice the changes in my appearance. From my hair to my eyes to my lip color...and now my skin is shifting from light to dark.
