Chapter 2

I end up walking to school, as usual. I stop by Ella's house to pick her up. Before I can knock on the door Ella whips the door open.

"Hey girl," Ella says posing like one of the populars.

"Please don't do that," I say pulling her out of the house. "It ain't natural" Ella laughs at that as we walk to school.

"Did you see the new episode of Doctor Who," She asks anxiously.

"No der,Ella," I roll my eyes and she laughs.

We reach the school in the middle of second period after a stop at Starbucks. The ladies in the office know the drill and let us through giving us passes. Second period is the only period I have with Ella. And it's PE. Also the only period I have with my crush. Andrew. He doesn't even know I exist. Does that matter? Nope. Plus he's dating Reilley head of the cheerleading squad, and killer of self-esteem. Ella and I changed and went into the gym. We were playing nookum. The one thing I'm good at. And I get put on Andrew's team and Ella the other. Andrew walks over.

"So, I guess it's good we have you when you're the best nookum player in the class," Andrew says smiling. I freeze for a minute. Once I'm back to normal. Kinda. I answer.

"Ya, guess it's a good thing," I say and laugh worriedly. I start to walk away, but

"Wait, Delilah, do you wanna maybe get some frozen yogurt after school?" Andrew asks.

"Uh, um, sure, ya sure," I finally get out. He smiles and we start the game. He seems unfazed and plays like normal. I, on the other hand am freaked out. Andrew Walker just asked me out.
