(Did you like the plot twist?)
I wipe the tears from my face as I walk to Ash's room.
"Ash why didn't you tell me," I say crying. "Why didn't you tell me about the death threats? Why did you tell your sisters best friend, but not your actual sister?" Ash looks up and I see that she had been crying.
"Delilah, I was going to, but," Ash sniffles. "I didn't know how to.. It was easier to tell Ella.. Ya she freaked out, but I was afraid that you would freak out more so I didn't tell you" Ash keeps crying as she stands up to hug me. I hug her and cry with her.
"It'll be okay," I say in between sniffles. "Pride Forever will be here soon"
"What if they aren't?"
I think about that as I watch Once Upon A Time later that day. What if they didn't end up coming? What if it didn't help Ash? What if it only made the situation worse? What if...
"Stop it," I say out loud. "You have to go back to school tomorrow whether you like it or not" I give up and trudge back upstairs and go to sleep.
My alarm wakes me up and I don't hesitate to get up and get dressed. I brush my hair out and braid it. I finish and grab my phone and book from my nightstand. I run downstairs and grab a poptart and run out the door and to Ella's house. She already knows I'm going to be early and opens the door.
"Let's go," She says stepping out of the house. We run to Starbucks and then calm down and walk to school like normal. Except earlier. We're still late. Middle of first period. We part ways and I walk to my science class. I sit at my station by the door, and zone out until the bell rings and I walk out and shove my books into my locker. I meet Ella at the beginning of the band hall and we walk awkwardly with everyone else to the locker room. We aren't used to everyone being here because we don't get to school until the middle of PE. We change and I walk into the gym to see Andrew watching me from his group of friends. I keep my head down and go sit in my spot. Crap. I think to myself. I just remembered that Andrew sits behind me. Of course I forgot, I get there in the middle of class. Coach McCown comes in and Andrew and his friends scatter to they're spots. Coach takes role and is surprised to see Ella and I but keeps going. While he's taking the freshman role and not paying attention Andrew taps my shoulder.
"Delilah," he asks. "Where were you yesterday?" When I don't answer he asks again and again until I give up.
"At home, duh," I say looking back at him.
"Why?" He asks.
"Why do you even care," I ask. "You have better things to worry about"
"Becau" I run away before he can answer. I run to a storage closet and cry. I cry until I hear Andrew say my name.
"Delilah, I know you're in there" I don't stop crying when he opens the door and sits in the storage closet with me. He pulls me to him and wraps his arms around me. I hesitate before I wrap my hands around his neck and cry into his shoulder.
"What's wrong," He asks pulling away.
"My... do you know my sister Ash," I ask and he nods. "And you know she's lesbian?" He nods again. "Well, she's getting death threats and" I pause when he wipes the tears from my eyes, but continue. "And people are trying to stop Pride Forever from coming and, and" Then he cups my face and kisses me. I wrap my arms back around his neck and pull him closer. I don't object when he takes out my braid and tangles his fingers in my hair. We stay there until I pull away.
"Not here," I say smiling and pull him out of the closet.
"Where then," He asks. I think on that for a few minutes, but he thinks of something first. "My house?" I smile as he pulls me after him.
