"Move out of my way!"
"Let me see!"
"Ow! You're stepping on my foot!"
"Samantha get off me!"I cautiously squeezed through the crowd of theatre kids outside the auditorium, periodically ducking out of the way from a swinging arm or a flying backpack. It was times like these I hated being as short as I was, I struggled immensely to see over everyone in order to read the cast posted on the door.
When I finally got close enough, I pushed my way to the front and read through the list, starting at the bottom. I dragged my finger up higher and higher, and higher and higher...
'I'm Belle?' I thought to myself. My eyes widened.
"Of course the Stark kid got it!" Blondie yelled from behind me. I really needed to learn her name, I bet it was Jessica, or something along those lines.
"Nice job, Victoria!" Someone said behind me. I spun around and multiple people began congratulating me, I was shocked at first but the. smiled and thanked them.
As I walked back through the crowd, I could see the blonde girl standing close by, scowling at me with her arms crossed. I couldn't be phased by her negativity, I was on top of the world! I skipped back to class, more than excited to share the news with Peter at lunch.
...
The lunch bell rang and I wasted no time scooting out of my seat and darting out the door. I ran down the hallway, dashing around other students, and I think I almost took out a couple third graders. I arrived at the back doors where Peter and I had met yesterday, but he wasn't there yet. I did just run all the way here, so I wasn't surprised and just waited impatiently.
"Well, well, well..." I heard a familiar voice and looked up to see blondie. Ugh.
"Uhm... hi?" I said. She was with two other people, another black haired girl and a goth looking boy with piercings and a leather jacket. They all looked much older than me.
"Funny meeting you here, all alone."
"I'm just waiting for my friend."
They kept getting closer and I became increasingly more uncomfortable.
"Wow, she has friends." The girl looked at her friends with a smirk. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Did you want something?"
"I wanted my part." She growled, no more than a foot away from me now.
"Your part?"
"I have been the lead role in the school plays for five years! And now you've stolen it from me!"
"Well it's not my fault Mr. Williams liked me." I defended myself weakly. I felt my hands begin to sweat.
"Liked you?" She laughed and her gang copied her. "He just likes your dad."
"I don't understand."
"The only reason anyone here will give you their time of day, is because your dad is Iron Man." I didn't answer. "I was going to ignore you at first, I didn't think you would even get a part in our play. But now you're going to pay."
Before I could ask what she meant, a fist came flying at me and I quickly ducked down. I ran to the other end of the room, she charged at me, and I raised my hand to her which pushed her back into the wall. She fell onto her butt and looked up at her friends, who then also ran at me, except this time, I was cornered. I raised my hand again and the girl flew back and landed next to blondie, but I didn't have time to do the same with the boy. He pushed his fist into my stomach and I groaned, falling onto my knees. I wrapped my arms around my stomach in pain, then I was kicked in my ribs and fell onto my side. By this point, blondie and the other girl were up and joined in.
I had given up trying to fight back, and just laid there as their punching bag with tears streaming down my face. Just as I thought nobody was going to save me, the attacks stopped and I looked up to see the three bullies being tied together with a familiar white string.
Peter appeared in the doorway and I couldn't have been more relieved to see him. He didn't have his suit on, but I could see the web fluid coming out from underneath his sleeve. When he had them tied together, he pushed the group out into the hallway so they could be dealt with, then he ran to me and knelt down.
"Victoria, oh my God, are you alright?" I tried to sit up, hissing when a sharp pain radiated through my chest. "Don't move, don't move. Here."
I felt a pair of hands reach under my body and pull me off the ground. Peter adjusted me in his arms and carried me bridal style out of the school, I laid my head against his chest in exhaustion. He stopped for a moment and I peered up to see him looking around frantically, probably for help. He then began jogging and opened a random truck door, placing me across the back seat.
"Peter?" I whispered, but he closed the door as I did and got in the passenger seat, sticking some keys into the ignition. "Peter, you can't drive."
"I know." He looked nervously at all of the buttons. Oh God.
"You're only 15."
"I know." He repeated himself, changing gears and turning his head to back out, shooting me a glance. "But I don't really care, you need help."
He pulled out of the parking spot and the truck jolted forward, making me groan. Peter muttered a 'sorry' and continued driving like a crazy person. I didn't even know who owned this truck, though, maybe he didn't either?
I kept my eyes closed throughout the entire ride, until I felt Peter park. He swiftly jumped out and opened my door again. I scooted to the edge of the seat slowly and he took me into his arms again, pushing the door closed with his shoulder. He began running and I could hear the car keys jostling around in his jeans' pocket. I heard some sliding doors open.
"I need a doctor!" Peters voice vibrated against my cheek.
There was a lot of commotion around us for a couple of seconds before I felt Peter lay me on a gurney. I was being wheeled away and opened my eyes wide to make sure Peter was still with me, and of course, he was right by my side.
Well, so much for lunch.
