October 30th
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! You look like a monkey, and you smell like one too!"
I opened my eyes groggily and rolled over to see Tony, Peter, Thor, Steve, Nat, Bruce and Clint all standing next to my bed. My eyes opened wide in surprise and I sat up against my headboard as Tony placed a big box wrapped in pink paper on my lap.
I noticed Peter holding his phone, recording me, and hid my face with my hands. "Noooo! I just woke up!" My voice was raspy.
Tony sat on the edge of my bed and they all watched as I looked down at the box. "You didn't have to get me anything." I said.
"In my eyes, this is your first birthday. I've missed too many and I won't miss another one!" Tony chuckled.
I reached for the bow and unraveled it, then ripped through the paper to reveal a white box.
"A MacBook?!" I exclaimed, tearing the rest of the paper off. "Oh my God, thank you Dad!" I laid it next to me and plunged forward, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"You're welcome! You deserve it." He laughed. "But, this isn't all." I gave him a look. "Come downstairs."
I looked around at everyone as they all began piling out of my bedroom again, then pushed the covers off myself and followed everyone out. I looked out over the overhang to see a mountain of gifts, all wrapped in different coloured paper, stacked next to the sofa.
"Holy crap! You guys didn't have to do this!" I said excitedly.
"Well, it's too late now, go dig in!" Steve patted my back.
I quickly ran downstairs, not caring that I was still in my pyjamas and bare feet, with a bird's nest of hair. I fell onto my knees and looked back to where everyone was walking downstairs and sitting around the living room. This was like Christmas!
"Can I start?"
"Of course! They're all yours!"
One after the other I ripped through the presents. The ones from Steve were labeled To Victoria , Love Uncle Steve, which made me smile, and the ones from Peter said To Chicken Wing.
Overall, I got a lot of really expensive clothes, which I scolded everyone for and told them they didn't have to, makeup - mostly from Nat, a lot of new video games, tons of new shoes, jewelry, a trampoline, and a bunch of other things.
"Thank you guys so much, really, this is more than I could've ever asked for..." I looked around at them.
"There's one more thing, follow me." Tony took my hand and guided me out the back door. He placed his hands over my eyes and I laughed. "1,2,3..."
He removed his hands and I looked up to see a beautiful treehouse in one of our trees. It was painted pink, green and purple and had a front deck with flowers and lights on it. There was a ladder hanging from the deck along with a tube slide twisting around to the ground. There was a tire swing hanging from the deck as well.
"Tony, this is amazing!" I jumped up and down, he didn't reply so I turned around and saw him walking toward me with something in his hands. "Tony... that's a dog."
"It's your dog."
"My dog? Like... a dog, that's mine?" I breathed as he got closer to me. The puppy squirmed in his grip and he passed him to me.
"He's a golden retriever."
"What's his name?" I asked in shock, staring at the small dog. I felt tears build up in my eyes.
"That's up to you!"
I thought for a moment and sat on the ground, placing the puppy in front of me. We stared into each other's eyes.
"Bailey." I said.
"Where'd you get that name?" Steve laughed.
"I don't know. He looks like a Bailey."
"Well, I think it's a fine name. Welcome to the family Bailey." Tony pet the dogs head and Bailey stuck out his tongue.
"This is so crazy... I have a dog!" I exclaimed, ruffling the dogs fur. He nibbled on my fingers playfully and fell over, rolling onto his back in the grass.
For breakfast, Tony had ordered a bunch of food to the house for everyone and I ate my waffles on the floor with Bailey, sneaking him a piece every now and then, but making sure to hide it from Tony. Once everyone had left, I brought Bailey into the treehouse and began filling it up with some of my belongings as Tony started putting the trampoline together below me.
I walked out of the house with some more blankets and pillows stacked in my arms and looked to Tony who was knelt on the ground with a hammer in his hand. The trampoline was nearly done now and he just had to finish putting the net on.
"If you keep bringing things out we're going to have to live in the treehouse." Tony laughed, peering over at me.
"I'm okay with that!"
I threw the blankets and pillows onto the deck above and climbed up the ladder. Bailey greeted me happily at the door and grabbed a corner of one of the blankets, helping me drag it inside. I stood back and looked at my designing skills and decided it was complete. I had a beanbag chair in the corner, and a small television, and a bin full of snacks. I also put some posters up on the walls, of AC/DC and of the Avengers - because I thought that would be funny. I out up some pink curtains and laid blankets and pillows around the floor to make it more cozy.
"It's finished!" I heard Tony yell from outside and ran out on the deck, leaning on the rail.
"Sweet!" I looked down at the trampoline in all of its glory. "Come on, Bailey!"
Bailey trotted over to me and I placed him on my shoulder, then climbed down the ladder once again. I headed over to the trampoline and climbed through the opening in the net, placing Bailey down. I began bouncing up and down slowly, which excited Bailey, who began jumping around me and nipping at my toes. Tony watched us, leaned against the outside, as Bailey and I ran around the inside of the trampoline.
"Come in!" I giggled.
"No, no, no... my trampoline days are over." Tony brushed me off, chuckling to himself.
I gave him a face. "Don't be a Debby Downer."
"I am not a Debby Downer."
"Are to."
"Am not."
"Are to."
"Am— I'm arguing with a twelve year old."
"No, you're losing against a twelve year old."
He stuck out his tongue at me and I copied him, then, to my surprise, he began crawling into the trampoline as well. I moved back as he stood up, and we stared at each other before he jumped into the air and back down onto the trampoline with force. His weight shot me into the air and I screamed. By this point, Bailey had jumped down and was laying on the grass, chewing on a bone, which I was thankful for because I'm pretty sure he would have flown away. I landed on my butt and Tony let out a huge laugh.
"That's not fair because you weigh way more than me!"
His mouth dropped. "Oh no you didn't—"
"Oh yes, I went there." I squinted my eyes and shot up, using all my might to bounce him into the air, but, to no avail.
He grabbed me from behind and held me above his head by my leg and back. I screamed as he threw me down onto the trampoline and I shot back into the air again.
"You two having fun?" A voice caught our attention, it was Steve, walking out of the house.
Tony immediately flattened out his shirt and pants and stood up straight, coughing awkwardly. "I was just making sure all of the springs were installed properly... wouldn't want her getting hurt, right?"
"Right." Steve laughed.
