I groaned, sitting up and rubbing my temple, a migraine pounding through my head. Phoenix was nowhere to be seen, so I decided to head to my desk and get back work. But when I opened the door, I spotted Nick in Mia's old chair, dozing softly.

Shaking my head with a grin, I collected and fixed the papers strewn about the desk. Suddenly, the phone rang. I jumped and scrambled over, fearful it would wake Wright. But when I picked up the phone, he was still fast asleep.

"Hello, Fey and Co. Law Offices here." I answered quietly, examining a bruise on my wrist with distaste.

"Is Phoenix Wright there?" The voice over the phone asked. It sounded male, kinda familiar, but I couldn't be sure.

"Yes, but he is..." I glanced over at Nick, still sound asleep, "...busy. Can I take a message?"

Silence for a second. "Is this Y/N L/N?" They asked, and I could hear scribbling.

"Ah, yes. Who is this?" I asked, taking a seat.

"Miles Edgeworth. I'm sure you remember me from the trial yesterday?" He said, his voice giving away that he was smiling.

"Oh, Edgeworth. What did you need?" I grinned, leaning back and getting comfortable.

"Just calling in to let you know that Redd had been sent to life in prison. I thought you might like to rest easy." I heard a *click* as he hung up.

I felt someone grip my shoulders and I froze, startled. "Who was on the phone and why aren't you resting?" Nick demanded, looking at me, concerned.

"I'm not resting because I'm not tired." I insisted, pulling his hands off and standing up, putting the phone down.

He looked doubtful. "And who was just calling?" He asked, crossing his arms.

"Edgeworth, just letting us know that White is in jail." I said, rubbing my wrist painfully. Wright smiled for a second before he eyed my arm. He walked around the chair and gently lifted my arm, examining the bruise.

"When did you get this?" He asked, gingerly brushing over the finger-sized dots. I pulled away quickly, turning away and finding something to look busy. "White grabbed my wrist just before he hit me with the trophy. You were already out by then." I answered briskly, flipping through a book of strange trials.

He looked guilty, going back to sit at Mia's old desk. "Oh." He sighed, turning on Mia's ancient computer. I left the room and collapsed on the couch, burying my face in my hands.

Just then, Maya burst through the door energetically, grinning. I sat up swiftly, waving to her. "Hi, Y/N! Where's Nick?" She asked, looking around the room. I motioned to the other room and she left. I heard them talking thought the slightly open door.

"Nick, that was so cool! Thanks for helping me out." Maya cheered, and by the sound of it, she hugged Wright tightly.

"It's nothing, really. Has Mia said anything?" Phoenix asked. I was slightly confused. 'Mia visited him?' I thought jealously. My own best friend picked her apprentice to see over me!

I stood and sat behind the front desk, searching though the small cabinets for anything. They were filled with client names, but one in particular stood out to me; Ivan Trent. It sounded familiar.

"Y/N, did you hear what the office name is being changed to? Wright and Co.!" Maya grinned wildly as she burst back in, leaning on the desk. I grit my teeth, smiling. "No, I hadn't. That's nice." I dug my nails into my leg.

'The amateur even gets to change the office name after him!? What about L/N and Co.? I had worked here far longer than Wright ever will!' I shook my head, trying to clear those thoughts. I'd get my chance some other time.

Taking a breath, I looked away and pulled out the file on Ivan Trent, ignoring the fact that Phoenix now stood in the doorway, leaning on the frame. "What's that?" He asked, glancing at the paper.

"A client file, the name looked familiar, that's all." I replied briefly, skimming through the report. Nick leaned over, reading through with interest.

"Ah, that's why. Ivan was convicted for drug use and mass murder." I closed the folder, "I must've heard of it from Mia." I put the file back, sighing.

"Y/N, just tell me what's wrong." Phoenix pleaded as soon as Maya left. I turned away, getting out of the chair. "It's nothing, Nick, I swear. I'm just a little shaken up after the yesterday." I closed my eyes, slinging my purse over my shoulder.

He drew closer, so near I could hear him breathe. I yelped when I felt him lift up my hair, examining my neck and head. "You were struck, too. Are you sure you'll be okay? You aren't dizzy?" He asked, letting my hair down gently.

My head was pounding and I was starting to get the vertigo again, but I shook my head. "No, I feel better than ever." And before he could say anything more, I left.
